Valentine’s Touch Foundation has empowered 20 petty business owners with grants to support their various businesses.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the beneficiaries who received the sum of N100,000 each were selected from the different villages in Ekwulumili community in Nnewi South Local Government Area.
The Chief Executive Officer of Red Pastures Limited, makers of “Doings Bitters”, Barrister Valentine Mbamalu in his speech said the empowerment programme is part of activities marking this year’s Ekwulumili Day.
Barr. Mbamalu also in the just concluded Doings Bitters TV show gave out ₦30 Million worth of prizes including a car, a plot of land, all expense paid trip, and cash of three million naira to the winner of the competition.
The CEO said that the gesture was aimed at raising successful businessmen and women in Ekwulumili, and promised that the beneficiaries who judiciously use the money will receive more support from the foundation until they are pulled out of poverty.
He thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the good work he is doing in the state, pleading with him to come to the aid of the community, in the area of provision of standard hospital, as according to him, the only hospital that exists in the community presently is the one built by one of their illustrious sons years ago.
The Manager of the Foundation, Mr Patrick Ugwuegbu, explained that the beneficiaries are petty businesses owners who are struggling with growing their businesses, assuring that the foundation will soon carry out the second round of the intervention.
The Chairman, Urueze Development Union, Ekwulumili, Chief Uchenna Ofor, commended Barrister Mbamalu for contributing immensely to the development of the town.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Messrs Ignatius Okoli, Kenechi Eze, and Ugochukwu Ezeobi thanked the foundation for coming to their aid and promised to judiciously use the money.
