Members of Electrical Dealers International Market, Obosi, in Idemili North Council Area were filled with excitement as their new 350 Meters Access Road was officially commissioned by the Executive Chairman of Idemili North LGA, Chief Stanley Nkwoka.
The Road tagged ‘Electrical Dealers Obosi By-pass’ was initiated and completed by the traders under the leadership of Ambassador Chike Onunkwo.
Commissioning the project, the Mayor of Idemili North Council Area, Chief Stanley Nkwoka described the Electrical Dealers as partners in progress with the State government, describing the initiative as a major boost for the Local Government.
“Coming to commission a legacy project like this one is a plus to us in the APGA led government, especially in this election year because this is an additional road to provide greater access to the market”, he said.
While commending the foresight of the initiators of the Road Project, he assured the traders of a business-friendly environment to transact their business, stressing that his administration will not allow anyone to intimidate them and warned that double taxation and all forms of intimidation are prohibited in any market in the Council Area, in line with Governor Charles Soludo’s policy.
Also speaking, the President General of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna expressed joy that those appointed by Mr. Governor to oversea the markets are doing well, adding that the Chairman of Electrical Dealers International Market Obosi, Ambassador Chike Onunkwo has done so well in bringing a lot of transformation in the market.
Chief Anuna urged the traders to remain united to make further progress, and reminded them of the importance of keying into the Anambra State Government’s ‘One Youth Two Skills’ empowerment program aimed at eradicating poverty and fostering productivity in the State.
Earlier, the Electrical Dealers International Market Chairman, Ambassador Chike Onunkwo expressed appreciation to the Union for the opportunity to serve them, and commended Governor Soludo for his legacy projects in the State which he said has made the traders to demand for his second term.
While appreciating the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Commerce, Sir Evaristus Ubah for his support, he appealed to the traders to respond positively to the opportunity for the ‘One Youth Two Skills’ initiative of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR for their own good, and prayed God to bring a new set of leaders in the market that will do better than his team.
On their part, the Secretary of the Union, Nze Chinedu Ezeibe; the Chairman Emeritus, Sir Innocent Muojekwu, and the ASMATA PRO, Chief Emeka Unegbu, among others, described the Access Road Project as a clear testament of their commitment to the growth and development of the market, and attributed the success of the project to unity and cooperation among the Executive team, the Patrons and Trustees of the market and prayed for continuous peace in the market.
The event also featured the unveiling of Hall of Fame Monuments containing the names of past leaders in the Union.
