# Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion, Most Rev Dr Alex Ibezim has secured a court injunction to stop anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from arresting him.

The Bishop had been accused of illegal sale of landed property belonging to the church, and embezzlement of the money.

The petition bothered on complaint about what was referred to as voracious wealth acquisition, and shortchanging of some of his allies, prompting EFCC to open investigation on the matter.

# The Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), a non-governmental organization that promotes democracy, transparency, and inclusive governance, has cautioned political actors in Anambra State’s political system against the use of hate speech and the spread of disinformation/fakenews as the gubernatorial election approaches.

In a press release on Thursday, signed by its Executive Director, Ugochi Agalaba-Ehiahuruike, SIDEC highlights the urgency for all candidates, especially those from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), to refrain from making inflammatory remarks that could escalate tensions in the political environment.

The release reads, “Hate speech and disinformation/fakenews pose a serious threat to democratic values and social cohesion, undermining the foundation of a stable society.

“Promoting unity and understanding among candidates and voters is essential for ensuring a fair and inclusive electoral process.

# Members of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), has visited the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor, at his office in Awka, seeking partnership in information management and dissemination ahead of the November 8 governorship election, under Project IMPACT.

Mefor, in his remarks, assured of the group of government’s support to their programme, commended SIDEC for her efforts to ensure a massive turnout of voters, particularly the marginalised groups, during the election.

The Commissioner urged the group to reach out to the opposition parties who foment trouble, spread fake news and peddle fake news and propaganda before, during and after elections.

He observed that Ndị Anambra scarcely participate in elections regardless of prevailing circumstances, adding that:

# ‎The Anambra State House of Assembly has indicted the Chairman of Onitsha South LGA, Hon. Emeka Orji, for illegal land acquisition, ordering him to stay off a property belonging to Chief Sabest Uchenna Uzoeto and pay for damages.

The Chairman House Committee on Public Petitions, Hon. Obi Nweke while giving a report of the findings at plenary, maintained that the Mayor acted beyond his powers.

Hon. Nweke while speaking, give the following recommendations after presenting the report titled: “Gross destruction of private property belonging to Chief Sabest Uchenna Uzoeto, at 39 Silas road Fegge, Onitsha Anambra State and illegal appropration of same without legal/lawful authority by Chief Emeka Orji, the Executive Chairman of Onitsha local government area”

Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over plenary, commended the Committee for its thorough investigation, which established that the property belongs to Chief Uzoeto.

# The Management of the Anambra State Internal Service AiRS has flagged off the
Market Enumeration Exercise. The event was held at the UHBET Centre, Awka, Anambra State.

The aim was to ensure thorough profiling of all the traders at various markets in the State and data generated will be used for a seamless revenue collection and administration.

The Market Enumeration team comprises mainly the AiRS Staffs will be stationed across all the markets in State with their electronics gadgets for the purpose of this exercise and it’s expected to last for two months.

The Executive Director, Direct Assessment AiRS, Mr Ben Anierobi Okafor on behalf of the Chairman/Chief Executive, Anambra State Internal Revenue, Dr. Greg Ezeilo, performed the official inauguration.

# Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Mrs Ify Obiano, has commended Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation for intentionally prioritizing child caring activities in their vision and Programs.

Speaking at Ojoto, Idemili South LGA, Hon. Obiano who was the Special Guest of Honor at the closing ceremony of the long vacation/holiday program sponsored cum organized by Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation also urged public spirited individuals and organizations of the need to always factor children and the less privileged into their activities.

Obinabo educated the participating children on what they were expected to do anytime they find themselves in a situation of abuse or any illicit advances towards sexual immorality.

# The State Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Anambra, Comrade Peter Okoye, has raised an alarm over alleged threats to his life over decisions to challenge the candidacy of George Moghalu.

Moghalu is the candidate of LP for Anambra State November 8 governorship poll until recent case instituted at federal High Court against his candidacy by a faction of the party loyal to Senator Nenadi Usman led National caretaker committee.

Okoye alleged that he received a disturbing telephone call from an unidentified man who introduced himself as “Jack from Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area,” warning him to withdraw the suit filed against Moghalu within 48 hours or face dire consequences.

He argued that Moghalu was sponsored by the Julius Abure-led faction of the party, which was sacked on April 4, 2025, while the disputed primary election that produced him was conducted the following day, April 5, 2025.

# Following the recent Outburst of Senator Uche Ekwunife, the wife of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nonye Soludo (Mmiliguruegu) says she too preoccupied with school resumption and can not dignify her with a response.

The Governor’s wife who made this disclosure through her official Facebook handle described the Ekwunife’s Utterances as fabrications

‘My attention has just been drawn to a post going round that Mrs Soludo replied Ekwunife. Not at all! I am too busy with my children as schools resume. Besides, I can’t condescend to replying inanities and fabrications. An Igbo adage says that you don’t exchange words with a madman, otherwise the passersby will not know the difference.

‘For the records, I never met Dr Mbadinuju of blessed memory. NEVER! As for the other fabrications – PITIABLE and LAUGHABLE” Mrs. Soludo maintained
