UK Supports Air Peace’s New Abuja–London Flights, Says Onyema

Kingdom has endorsed Air Peace’s new direct flights from Abuja to London, set to commence on October 26, 2025. Chairman Allen Onyema announced the development during the airline’s Travel Agency Forum in Abuja, highlighting the UK’s support as a significant milestone for Nigerian aviation.

Onyema credited the British government, particularly Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter, for facilitating the necessary approvals and ensuring a smooth process for the airline. He emphasized that this collaboration underscores the UK’s confidence in Air Peace and its operations.

The new route aims to provide direct access for travelers from Northern Nigeria to London, reducing the need for connecting flights through other hubs and potentially lowering ticket prices. Onyema described the initiative as a “revolution” in Nigerian aviation, noting that it has already prompted other carriers to adjust their fare structures in response.

He also expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government, acknowledging the support from President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo in facilitating the airline’s growth and international expansion plans.

Looking ahead, Air Peace plans to further extend its global reach, with upcoming routes to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Antigua, and Barbados by the end of the year. Additionally, the airline intends to resume services to several African cities, including Kinshasa, Libreville, Douala, Johannesburg, and Conakry, contingent upon improved visa regimes.

Onyema concluded by urging Nigerians to place greater confidence in indigenous carriers, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and reliable international travel options.
