# The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the winner of the
November 8th 2025 governorship election.
The Returning officer for the election who is also the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, announced the result on Sunday morning at INEC’s collation centre in Awka.
Omoregie declared Governor Soludo of APGA winner of the election for gathering the highest number of valid votes cast in the election and satisfying the requirements of the law.
Prof. Omoregie announced that Governor Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance won the election with 422,664 votes, while Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress came second with a total of 99,445 votes.
Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
# The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has distributed about five hundred
(500) seedlings to trigger mass plantation in Anambra State.
Over fifty (50) youths drawn from different locations also benefitted from the programme staged at Mr. Gordian Chukwuemeka Oranika Conference Hall, Awka.
In his welcome address, the State Coordinator, NEPC, Mr. Peter Udom enjoined the participants to utilize the knowledge acquired to engage themselves not just in exportation of raw agricultural products but also add value to it.
Mr. Udom added that it would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the Nigerian economy and create employment in line with the NEPC campaign of “Doubling your Export”
In their separate speeches, the Director General, Awka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (AWKACCIMA) Mr. Agulue Olisaemeka expressed gratitude to the State Coordinator for organizing the palm seedlings distribution event, which benefited some members.
# The President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Anambra State chapter, Maazi Chukwuma Okpalaezukwu says Saturday’s Anambra Governorship Election is an opportunity for the new Chairman Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, to rebuild the people’s confidence that their votes can actually count.
Okpalaezeukwu disclosed this after a meeting of the State Executive Council of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, in Awka.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, Okpalaezeukwu said after monitoring pre-election activities, they are satisfied with what the INEC has done so far, but urged the electoral umpire to use the Anambra governorship election to redeem its image.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Anambra President said the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization will set up a situation room to monitor the election, to ensure that all goes as planned.
# The Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr John Chuma Nwosu, on Sunday, alleged that winner of the November 8 poll and Prof. Chukwuma Soludo reportedly engaged in vote buying through agents at rates of about N3000 to N20,000.
Nwosu, who disclosed this at a post election press conference, described the exercise as a national embarrassment because according to him, at most polling units, voters were openly induced with cash thereby turning the entire process into a marketplace rather than a democratic exercise.
According to him, the election was allegedly riddled with corruption, manipulation, and vote trading and never represented the voice of the people and a shambolic election confers a shambolic mandate.
# Anambra State commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor has expressed satisfaction at the timely and peaceful conduct of the November 8th 2025 election.
The Commissioner, who performed his civic duty at Polling Unit 023, Nkwo Agbaja 1, Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area, arrived the polling centre around 9.16am and met the officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) already set for the exercise at the two polling units in the centre.
Dr. Mefor proceeded immediately to get accredited and casted his vote by 9.20am.
Speaking to journalists in an interview after casting his vote, commended INEC for the timely commencement of the exercise and advised them to sustain it to ensure a peaceful, free, fair and credible election at the end of the day.
# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that his prediction that Governor Chukwuma Soludo will win in the twenty one Local Government Areas of the State has come to pass as APGA swept the polls, which he described as unprecedented.
In his Congratulatory Message to Governor Soludo on his reelection victory on behalf of the State Legislature, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that the outcome of the governorship election was a clear testament to Governor Soludo’s good governance in the State and genuine demonstration of the people’s unwavering support to his administration.
The State Number One Lawmaker who commended the people of Ogbaru Local Government Area for recording a resounding victory in the election in appreciation of Governor Soludo’s development achievements in the area, assured the Governor that they will give him more support in his second term.
Rt. Hon. Udeze called on other governorship candidates who contested the election with Governor Soludo to see the Governor’s reelection victory as divine Providence and the collective wish of Ndi Anambra by congratulating the Governor and joining hands with him in moving to the State to greater heights.
While urging the entire citizenry to intensify their support to Governor Soludo especially in his second term, prayed God to provide the Governor with the enablements to continue to pilot the affairs of the State creditably for the peace and overall development of the State.
# Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has expressed his gratitude to ndi Anambra for renewing his mandate.
The Governor Soludo while speaking in his country home, Isuofia, thanked the citizens of Anambra for their support and trust in his leadership and active participation in the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, President Bola Tinubu, the security agencies, among others, emphasizing the importance of the democratic process which saw him being re-elected with seventy-three percent of the total votes cast.
While acknowledging the efforts of fifteen other opponents under various platforms, the Governor extended his hands of fellowship to them, describing the election as an improvement to the Anambra August sixteenth Bye-election.
# The Anambra governorship election has been described as peaceful and smooth by voters and security officials across the state.
Voters in Awka South, Anaocha, and Aguata LGA commended the peaceful conduct of the election despite minor glitches in the operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in some polling units.
At the Anambra State Police Command, the Commissioner of Police in charge of election duties, CP Aboyomi Shogunle, stated that the exercise was largely peaceful across the state.
