# The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College Of Medicine has concluded the 12th Induction ceremony of its 80 New Medical Graduands.
The Physicians oath were administered to the graduands after their due presentation by the Dean Clinical Medicine Prof.Ifeanyi Ezebialu at the Pathology auditorium Chukwuemeka Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Awka.
In a message of felicitation, the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Prof. Kate Omenugha charged the graduands to be worthy ambassadors of the university and abide by the Physicians oath which they took.
Prof.Omenugha announced that the university management has approved that the 5 best graduating students of the university will engage in their houseman ship in the university’s teaching hospital in Awka.
The Vice Chancellor commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his passion to lift the university to enviable heights.
# The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command responded to a serious road traffic crash that occurred on the Nteje-Awk road at Igbariam Junction.
According to Anambra FRSC Spokesperson, SRC. Margaret Onabe, the call was received at 14:45 hours, and the rescue team arrived on the scene within five minutes, at 14:50 hours.
“Two vehicles were involved: a red Sino trailer (commercial, registration unavailable) driven by an unidentified male, belonging to Coca-Cola, and an ash-colored Daihatsu Hijet bus (commercial, registration unavailable) also driven by an unidentified male, belonging to ASTMA.
“Four males were involved; one male adult sustained injuries and received first aid before being transported to the hospital, while another male adult was killed. Two other males were rescued unharmed.
“The cause of the fatal crash was attributed to a loss of control of the trailer.
According to eyewitnesses, “the ASTMA bus stopped to arrest a vehicle that was parking on the road. Upon getting close, they discovered it was having tire issues, so one of them left to get a vulcanizer for it.
“The Coca-Cola Sino truck was attempting to maneuver when one of its tires caught up with the bus and dragged it into the gutter, trapping the bus under the trailer”.
# ‎Edel FC began their Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign on a winning note after narrowly defeating Sunshine Stars FC 1–0 in a tightly contested opener at the Awka City Stadium.

‎The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when Ifeanyi Aniji’s deflected free-kick wrong-footed the goalkeeper, handing the hosts a crucial lead against the run of play.

‎Sunshine Stars, coached by Bobola Akinfolarin, started the match on the front foot, dominating early possession and carving out several promising opportunities. However, their inability to apply the finishing touch proved costly.

‎After the interval, Akinfolarin made tactical adjustments, injecting fresh legs and urgency into his side’s attack. Sunshine Stars pressed relentlessly for an equaliser, creating multiple goalmouth scrambles and forcing Edel FC to defend deep.

‎Despite their spirited second-half display, Sunshine Stars were unable to level the score and were forced to settle for an opening-day defeat.
# Sector Commander FRSC Anambra State, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, has expressed sympathy for the family of the deceased and wished the injured a quick recovery over the accident at Nteje-Awk road at Igbariam Junction.
Asekhauno who was present at the crash scene with the Corridor 5 Commander and the Nteje unit Commander said:
“We deeply regret this tragic loss and commend the swift action of our officers. This incident underscores the urgent need for all drivers to observe speed limits, avoid reckless maneuvers, and maintain full control of their vehicles at all times.
“The FRSC Anambra Command’s priority is to save lives and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. We will continue enforcing traffic laws and educating the public to prevent similar incidents”.
# The Management of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) has held a tripartite meeting with the agencies of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) at the Board Room, Revenue House, Awka.
The meeting focused on the need to begin enforcement against defaulters using fake vehicle plate numbers in the State.
Various issues regarding how to identify and differentiate fake number plates from original ones were thoroughly discussed, and solutions were proposed covering the points of production, registration, and verification.
The meeting was convened by the State Motor Registrar, Mrs. Chinelo Okoloji, and moderated by the Head of the Backduty Department, AiRS, Mr. Francis Ezenwa.

Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), has set a remarkable milestone by becoming the first College of Education in the world—and the first tertiary institution in Anambra State—to officially launch the groundbreaking Vicilook RoadPath Scan2Look technology.
The historic unveiling took place at noon on 18th November, marking a new era of digital transformation and smart-campus navigation for the institution.
The installation and launch event was graced by the Provost, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, who was accompanied by key members of the College’s Management Team, including the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Ndu Azubuike; the Registrar, Mrs Edith Nwoye; the Director of Works, Engr Nmamdi Onyili; as well as the executive members of the current Student Union Government (SUG).
# The Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary, approved the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF)
In his submission, Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, described the MTEF as the backbone of the annual budgeting process.
The approved MTEF outlines key projections, including a 63% increase in revenue from ₦11 billion to ₦18 billion for the 13% derivation on Oil Producing States, and a projected ₦101.7 billion from VAT in 2026, up from ₦82.4 billion in 2025. The monthly IGR projection is set at ₦6 billion, with a 15% increase in personnel costs to prioritize workers’ welfare.
Key principles guiding the MTEF include:
Revenue projections based on realistic assumptions. Prioritization of workers’ welfare and new recruitments. Improved operational efficiency.Timely and evidence-based data for budgeting, and
Effective budget monitoring and oversight
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, emphasized the importance of training and retraining of legislators and parliamentary staff on relevant laws, including the Public Procurement Act and Fiscal Responsibility Law.
# The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter has congratulated the Anambra Beach Soccer “Warriors” on their victory at the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League.
SWAN in a statement signed by Chimezie Anaso and Uche Ndeke, Chairman and Secretary respectively said the Anambra Beach Soccer League demonstrated the strong, resilient and hard fighting spirit of Anambra.
The statement which was made available on Thursday applauded the Anambra Beach Soccer Association under the chairmanship of Prof. Victor Madubuko for not only launching the state into the mainstream of Nigeria Beach Soccer but for winning the highest national honour within three years of its existence.
SWAN said the success story is a justification of the confidence reposed on the Madubuko inspired ABSA that earned the association an award for the Fastest Growing Sports Association in Anambra during the 2024 SWAN Week.
