Enugu-Agidi Community Rejects 16th December Date For EBU Election

Ndi Enugu-Agidi Community, in Njikoka Local Government Area, have rejected the December 16th 2025 Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU), electon as announced by Mr. Ebuka Onuorah.

They accused Onuorah of trying to disenfranchise many indigenes of Enugu-Agidi by fixing 16th December as the date for Triennial delegates conferenc/election in order to manipulate the process.

The community in a letter written to the Governor, Anambra traditional rulers and President Generals, maintained that Ebuka Onuorah wanted to disenfranchise the people in the election, which the town union usually holds on 29th December when most indigenes have returned home for the Christmas festivities..

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the interim President General of EBU, Nigeria, Ozo Kenechukwu Okoye, has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to intervene in the ongoing crises in the community.

Okoye made the call in the letter signed by him and 8 members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of EBU, Nigeria, entitled: “Formal Rejection of the Unilateral Date of 16 December 2025 Announced by former PG, Ebuka Onuorah for the 2025 National Delegates’ Conference/Election of the EBU, Nigeria “

The letter reads: “we, the undersigned members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Enugu-Agidi Brotherly Union, Nigeria, respectively bring to your urgent attention a development that threatens the peace, unity and constitutional order of our dear community and in the same vein wish to reject the unilateral date of 16th December 2025 as announced by Mr Ebuka Onuorah for the EBU General conference/election and formerly notify you that the NEC approved date for the conference/elections is 29th December 2025.

According to the letter, the former information circulating on the Enugu-Agidi WhatsApp platform by Mr Ebuka Onuorah lacked merit as it was not backed by the NEC.

“There was no consultation; no approval by the NEC; no deliberation, adding that this was a clear violation of the EBU, Nigeria constitution.

“This unilateral action is unprocedural, Unacceptable and has caused public embarrassment to the NEC as it wrongly suggest collective agreement where there none exists.

“The circulated letter has already generated confusion and tension among our people, thereby raising deep concerns about transparency and due process in the union.

“Furthermore, the NEC did not approve the 16th December date; the NEC was never consulted at any stage; the NEC completely dissociates itself from the said announcement consulted, ” Okoye said.

Other signatures to the letter includes MLS Anuta Isreal (Secretary General), Mr Oliver Anyanor (Welfare Officer), Barrister Justin Obuzor (Legal Adviser), Mr Okechukwu Okam (Chief Provost), Rngr Chinefu Okoye Akuamia (Financial Secretary), Comrade Echezona D Egbuonu (Asst. Pub. Secretary), Chief Stephen Okafor (Auditor General), and Mr Stanley Nnabuchi (Provost 11).

In his place the community chose Ozo kenedilichukwu Okoye as the interim PG.
