# The local government Chairman of Idemili South, Hon. Amaka Obi completed the construction of doctors and nurses quarters at Umunocha Healthcare centre, Awka-Etiti.

In her speech during the inspection, the Mayor express satisfaction with standard,
stating that the project which will soon be commissioned.

The local government boss revealed that the quarters will provide a conductive living environment for medical doctors and nurses in the community, to enable them to focus on delivery quality healthcare services to the community.

# The Forum for African Women Educationalist (FAWE) Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, in collaboration with Association Against Child, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (AACSGBV) on Tuesday, 25th November, 2025 held a one-day road show to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

The road show which was held at the Awka Campus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka was geared towards sensitizing the university community and the general public on the importance of preventing and addressing gender-based violence, promoting a culture of respect, dignity and equality for all.

Nigeria has seen a rise in GBV cases, with 27 percent of women aged 15-49 experiencing some form of female genital mutilation and violent abuse from the male folks.

The event which is part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign kick-starting from November 25 to December 10th, 2025 seeks to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.

The one-day road show featured awareness campaigns, interactive sessions, and advocacy efforts to promote a GBV-free society.

Addressing Journalists after the road show, the State Secretary of FAWE Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Dr. Mariagoretti Obiakor stated that the road show is officially to flag off the 16 days activism on gender-based violence (GBV) with the idea being to sensitize women and girls about GBV and the necessary steps to take to curb the menace.

Dr. Obiakor, a lecturer in the Department of Educational Management and Policy, UNIZIK, disclosed that the 16 days activism on GBV will include webinar and sensitization campaign on broadcast mediums comprising of Radio and Television in the South East zone. The scholar affirmed that the sensitization will also include visitations to post-primary schools in the state where the group is expected to sensitize students on GBV as well as give out items such as sanitary pads and exercise books.

# Investigations into the Anambra State House of Assembly reveal that parliamentary workers clamouring and agitating for better working conditions have been arbitrarily transferred from the state assembly to other Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state government for alleged insubordination and disruption of parliamentary businesses.

Recall that the workers had joined their counterparts nationwide to protest against the non-implementation of Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS), the non-existence of a Legislative Service Commission as well as the non-payment of Special Allowances alongside other pressing demands which led to the locking of the legislative chambers, the Speaker’s office and some other offices in the assembly complex by the protesting workers.

But recent findings from the state assembly complex has it that some of the workers involved in the struggle have been randomly evicted from the legislature and redeployed to other MDAs in the state civil service even as some of the transferred officers faced outright rejections in the ministries where they were transfered to.

# Anambra State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Chiamaka Nnake said tax remained one of the major sources of government Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for budget implementation.

Mrs. Nnake who disclosed this during a post-budget media briefing at her office on Tuesday said the proposed budget size for 2026 is ₦757,884,487,705, representing a 24.1% increase over the 2025 budget of ₦606,991,849,118.

The Commissioner however said government had potentials to do more than the estimated IGR, with plans to device more efficient and creative ways of tax collection as well as expansion of tax bracket to ensure everyone was captured.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described Prince Arthur Eze as the pride of Ndigbo in the business sector as well as a leading philanthropist in the country.

In his goodwill message to Prince Eze on
his 77th Birthday, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that the Ukpo born Royal Prince has used his God-given wealth to impact positively on the lives of the people, adding that his empowerment scheme, which cuts across ages and gender, is growing from strength to strength.

The Speaker who recollected with satisfaction, numerous successes recorded by Prince Eze in the business sector such as the establishment of the then Triax Airline, which was a leading private Airline in Nigeria as well as Atlas and Oranto Petroleum International among others, stressed that the business mogul has really done his State Anambra and Ndigbo proud in many ways.

He enjoyed Ndi Anambra especially the youth to emulate business efforts and ingenuity of Prince Eze by shunning all negative means of acquiring wealth, which he said, is the bane of the contemporary society, while urging the affluent citizens to make good use of their wealth by impacting positively on the society and for the peace and development of the State as Prince Eze.

Rt. Hon. Udeze encouraged Prince Eze to continue to discharge his divinely assigned service to God and humanity with great joy, praying God to reward him with longevity and good health.

# The Manager St.John of God Secondary School Awka Rev. Fr. Malachy Maduewesi feels highly elated over Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s deserved re-election in the November 8th governorship election in the state.

Fr. Maduewesi in a public press statement in Awka on behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of St. John of God Secondary School Awka, expressed hope that under Soludo’s watch, the state will surely get to its promised land.

The cleric appreciated advances made by the governor in all sectors of the economy in his ongoing first term in office especially in the education sector with the creation of smart schools among some public schools in the state.

He urged that some public mission schools in the state be designated as smart schools to balance the equation of schools ownership diversity beneficiaries,and to encourage healthy competition among the education institutions.

# Anambra State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the lawmaker representing Ayamelum Constituency, Hon. Bernard Udemezue for another three months without pay for non-compliance rules and unparliamentary activities.

This follows the recommendations of the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges during plenary on Wednesday.

The House recommended that Ayamelum lawmaker should apologize to the Speaker and members of the 8th Assembly in writing and on his social media platforms within five days counting from 26th November 2025, while also stating that he should not be seen around the premises of the Assembly during the period of his suspension.

The recommendation also noted that from the findings of the House within the period of his suspension, Hon. Udemezue had not apologized to the Speaker and the Assembly members either on social media or through a written apology.

According to the Majority Leader, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, who chairs the committee, Honourable Udemezue still took to his Facebook account to continue the very act of ridiculing the Anambra Assembly and failed to adhere to the provisions of the resolutions of 28th August 2025.

Ofodeme said that Udemezue violated the resolution by showing up in the legislative chamber on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, and not only did he show up, but also appeared ready to disrupt the legislative activities of the day.

# The Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, Dr. Afam Obidike has inaugurated the Anambra State Technical Working Group (TWG) for Climate Change.

This took place at the Data Operation Centre (DOP) of the Ministry on Wednesday, November 26.

The Committee is scheduled to analyze the effect of climate change in the state as it concerns erosion, drainage system, Agriculture and other parts of the environment.

Committee members include, the Permanent Secretary SMOH, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ANPHCDA) all Directors, Heads of Departments and Focal persons of different programmes in the Ministry.

Others are, Representatives from the State Emergency Management Agency, Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and representatives from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH).

The Programme Officer, Climate Change, Dr. Tochi Nweke commended the stakeholders for being present at the inauguration and promised to take all suggestions to work so as to create a formidable workable document on the programme which would be submitted to the climate change team at the National level.
