# The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) family in Alor, Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, witnessed another remarkable political homecoming as Chief Kenechukwu Ngige, a former APC House of Assembly aspirant, officially returned to the ruling party.
Chief Ngige, was warmly received into the APGA family by Hon. Ebuka Igwe, alongside the APGA Alor Ward 1 and Ward 2 executives as well as other key party stakeholders, who gathered to welcome him back into the party fold.
Speaking during the reception, Hon. Igwe expressed appreciation for Chief Ngige’s decision to rejoin APGA, describing his return as timely and strategic for the party’s continued dominance in Alor and across Idemili South. He urged the returning political heavyweight to remain steadfast and fully committed to the ideals of the party.
Hon. Igwe emphasized that APGA remains a winning and progressive political platform in Anambra State, especially under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. He encouraged Chief Ngige never to contemplate leaving the party again, assuring him of full support, unity, and cooperation at all levels.
# The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie, has appointed Prof. Hilda Osisioma as the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Coordinating).
This appointment is pending the election of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) at the upcoming Senate meeting.
The appointment was ratified during the 241st Senate meeting held at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium.
Prof. Hilda Ewosiida Osisioma is a Professor of Production Management and Quantitative Methods in the Department of Business Administration.
# Anambra State Ministry of Health, has announced another round of free Hydrocelectomy to people living with hydrocele diseases in the state.
This was made public by the Ministry of Health through the Department of Public Health and Disease Control.
The free exercise which will be the fourth dispensation is co-sponsored by The Carter Center (TCC).
According to the release, the surgery will happen simultaneously within major government hospitals in the three central zones of the state.
# A white Mercedes-Benz SUV, snatched by armed criminals, has been successfully recovered following a coordinated police response during a pursuit operation.
A combined team of Police Tactical Operatives from the Operations Department Awka, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Akwuzu, and the Special Anti-Cultism Unit (SPACS) Enugu-Ukwu, while in hot pursuit of armed criminals who attacked a police patrol team at Eziowelle along Umuoji Road, encountered a Police Convoy that promptly joined in the engagement.
Anambra Police Command spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release noted that the convoy swiftly aligned with the pursuing operatives and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, forcing the criminals to abandon the snatched white Mercedes-Benz SUV and flee the scene under intense pressure. Meanwhile, one police operative who sustained a minor gunshot injury is stable and currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
“Preliminary information indicates that the officers in the convoy are attached to Senator Chris Ngige, former Governor of Anambra State and former Minister of Labour and Employment.
“The recovered vehicle has been secured and taken into police custody for further investigation, as operatives intensify a coordinated state-wide manhunt for the fleeing armed hoodlums”. Ikenga stated.
# The forthcoming Igbariam Progressive Union (IPU) President-General election has been thrown into turmoil following shocking allegations that a native doctor, Amaechi Kpachiko, is issuing threats and attempting to intimidate candidates ahead of the poll.
The development has heightened tension across the community, with many residents describing it as a deliberate attempt to derail the people’s democratic right to choose their leader.
Community sources revealed that Amaechi allegedly used a WhatsApp platform to warn candidates below the age of 50 to step down or face what he called his “wrath.”
In the same voice messages, he reportedly boasted that Igbariam “will not be governed by a learned person,” a statement that has sparked widespread condemnation from citizens who insist that the town urgently needs an experienced and educated leader.
# Anambra State Police have arrest two suspects one Nonso Augustine Akpeh ‘M’ aged 37 years and Kingsley Akpeh ‘M’ aged 44 years allegedly involved in the kidnapping of three Cameroonian nationals abducted on 10th November 2025 in Onitsha.
The Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu also recovered one (1) Pump Action gun, one (1) locally fabricated double-barrel gun
and ten (10) live cartridges.
According to Anambra Police spokesman, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, Preliminary information by the relative of the victims on 13th November 2025 revealed that the victims were kidnapped while on a business trip to purchase goods in Onitsha. Furthermore, it was revealed that the abductors refused to release the victims after Two Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira was paid from the initial demand of Fifty Million Naira by the armed criminals.
During the interrogation of the suspects, they further named Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu as an accomplice. Meanwhile, the suspects subsequently led police operatives to various bush locations in Anam Community where the victims had been held. The second suspect, Kingsley Akpeh, attempted to escape, but was shot in the leg and re-arrested.
Also, during the Police search of the victims in the bush, they interacted with the people in the area as unpleasant information indicates that three unidentified female corpses were discovered floating in a nearby river approximately five days ago, within the vicinity where the victims were reportedly kept. These bodies are strongly suspected to be those of the kidnapped victims.
To this end, investigation is still in progress as the operatives have intensified efforts to locate and recover the victims’ bodies, arrest the fleeing suspect, and uncover the full extent of the criminal network.
Anambra State Police Command remains resolute in combating kidnapping and all forms of violent crimes in the State. Further developments will be communicated in due course.
# In what could be best described as a typical demonstration of the “Aku Ruo Ụlọ” (Think Home) philosophy being advocated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, Anambra-born business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Sir Gilbert Ezenagu, has embarked on a massive rehabilitation and asphalting of a key road in his hometown, Ebenator, Nnewi South Local Government Area, attracting commendation of the State Government.
Chief Ezenagu, flagged off the road rehabilitation project in the past few days, beginning with the ever-busy Obinugwu Road, a major internal route that had long suffered heavy deterioration, erosion
impacts, drainage-related problem, and severe surface damage that made movement difficult for residents, traders, motorists, and school children.
The project, which is being executed with high engineering precision by Pinnatech Engineering Nigeria Limited, covers full drainage correction, base reinforcement, proper resurfacing, and total asphalting of the road.
# Anambra South Senatorial District representative Chief. Emmanuel Nwachukwu has consoled victims of Ekwusigo tanker explosion.
Senator Nwachukwu during his visit,
passionately addressed and consoled the victims for the various degrees of losses recorded.
Nwachukwu who acknowledged how painful and devastating the outcome may be on them, encouraged them not to lose hope, but to be thankful to God for preserving their lives, which makes it possible that can still bounce back and attain even greater heights in their businesses.
The Federal lawmaker also reminded them that such tanker explosion and fire outbreaks were usually much fatal and highly destructive, judging by records of previous places where tanker explosion happened.
Chief Nwachukwu consequently encouraged and advised them to see themselves as more fortunate for being alive; as according to him, “life is greater than wealth.”
