The Anambra State Government has launched the 2026 Armed Forces Emblem, signalling the state’s support for families of ex-servicemen, widows of fallen heroes, and their dependants.
Speaking at the Government House, Awka, during the emblem appeal fund launch to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobe, said the emblem launch is one of the ways of showing the state’s gratitude to ex-servicemen for their efforts in securing and keeping the nation united, adding that the challenges facing military veterans would be given due consideration.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Anambra State Council, Dr. Ben Agbogu, congratulated Governor Soludo on his resounding and overwhelming victory at the just-concluded governorship election in the state, which he described as a clear indication of the people’s endorsement of the Governor, and also commended him for leading from the front in the fight against all forms of criminality in the state, describing the establishment of Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi as steps in the right direction.
According to him, the Nigerian Legion is faced with a myriad of problems, including the non-release of annual subvention, lack of office accommodation, and absence of operational vehicles, even as he appealed to government appointees, public-spirited individuals, and philanthropists to donate generously to the upkeep of ex-servicemen, widows of fallen heroes, and their dependants.
