Rapper Kolaboy Accuses Enugu Govt of Undermining Concert Plans

Rapper Kolaboy on Wednesday accused the Enugu State Government of undermining his upcoming concert after rescheduling a state-backed music event to hold a day earlier at the same venue to accommodate Phyno.

In a video statement shared on social media, the southeast-based artist criticised the decision to move the government-organised “Roadblock” concert to December 20, 2025, saying it clashes directly with his own show scheduled for December 21 at Okpara Square.

“I respect Phyno so much as a father figure in the music industry, but it is insensitive for the Enugu State Government to fix a show a day before my show and at the same venue,” Kolaboy said, referring to fellow rapper Phyno, who is billed to perform at Roadblock.

Kolaboy said the issue was not only the proximity of the dates but also the change of venue, noting that Roadblock was initially scheduled to take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium complex before being moved to Okpara Square.

According to him, the date adjustment was made to accommodate Phyno’s availability after the original December 23 date was deemed unsuitable. He argued that the move failed to consider the impact on his already-scheduled concert.

“It will be very difficult for my team to set up equipment and prepare properly when another major concert is happening at the same venue just a day before,” he said, adding that vendors and sponsors may also be affected by the overlap.

Kolaboy, who has built a reputation as one of the fast-rising voices in southeastern Nigeria’s music scene, said the decision was “irrational” and dismissive of his contributions to entertainment development in Enugu State and the wider region.

As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Government had not publicly responded to the rapper’s claims or clarified whether the Roadblock concert plans would be reviewed.
