Nigeria’s football authorities on Tuesday dismissed reports that star striker Victor Osimhen was set to leave the Super Eagles camp, insisting there was no crisis within the squad and that training was continuing as planned.
In a statement relayed by broadcaster beIN SPORTS Türkiye, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said tensions that sparked speculation of a rift had been quickly settled.
“There is absolutely no problem in the camp,” the NFF said, describing the issue as a minor disagreement.
“The situation that people consider as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved within a few hours. All is well and we are training now.”
Rumours had circulated on social media suggesting Osimhen, one of Africa’s most high-profile forwards, was unhappy and considering an early departure from the national team setup following an on-field incident.
The NFF’s clarification sought to calm concerns ahead of Nigeria’s ongoing preparations, stressing unity within the squad and rejecting any suggestion of disciplinary or personal issues involving the Napoli striker.
Osimhen remains a central figure in Nigeria’s campaign, and the federation’s statement underlined its position that the team remains focused on upcoming fixtures, with no disruption to training or team cohesion.
