Ndiowu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra have elected Chief Chibuzor Okeke as the new traditional ruler of the town, after eleven years.

Chief Okeke polled 506 votes to defeat his four other contesters; Chief Onyeka Ekwueme-2 votes, Mr Ogochukwu Nwankwo-2 votes, Mr Onyeka Kanu-2 votes and Chief Obuneme Okeke-Non vote.
The returning officer for the election, Mr Alex Omenugor, who announced the results in the election that took place at Central School field Ndiowu, said 18 votes were invalid out of 512 valid votes billed for the exercise.
The election was supervised by officials from the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy matters led by Mr Ikechukwu Mgbike
In his brief acceptance speech, the Traditional ruler elect, Chief Okeke, thanked the people for their participation during the voting process, promised to be father to all through an all-inclusive leadership.
According to the newly elected monarch, his rulership will put to an end all humanitarian divisions in the community.
“I contested the Igweship position to ensure a safe environment for for my people. I want my people to sleep with their two yes close.
“My rulership would transformed Ndiowu community into a modern city in Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole. My aimed is to strengthen unity and also to ensure that every son and daughter of Ndiowu acquired a University degree irrespective of family background, the Monarch assured.
Chief Okeke commended the leadership of the Ndiowu Development union for its continuous focus and commitment towards the development of town. He also commended governor Chukwuma Soludo for his visionary leadership and pledged to do everything to deliver good governance to the people.
In their separate interviews, the Orumba North Local Government Area Executive Chairman, Hon Casmir Nwafor and the former lawmaker representing Orumba North Sate Constituency, Hon Emeka Aforka, described the election as transparent, credible, peaceful, free and fair.
