# The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commenced training for Education Management Information System (EMIS) personnel, heads of schools and education officers on the use of a newly developed Online Attendance App.
Declaring the one day training open in Awka, the Executive Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr Justina Anyadiegwu, described the initiative as a major step towards advancing the digital transformation agenda of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration in the education sector.
Anyadiegwu said the Online Attendance App was a home grown solution designed to capture real time attendance, eliminate ghost workers, ensure accurate payroll administration and improve service delivery in public basic schools.
She said the initiative reflected the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to strengthen governance in education and ensure effective monitoring and accountability of teachers.

Accompanied by his campaign team, Oil congratulated the women for upholding the tradition. # The Idemili North Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Mrs. Uju Omile, has reaffirmed the commitment of women in the local government area to continue supporting the policies and programmes of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Mrs. Omile made the declaration on Monday, August 3, 2026, when she led a delegation of APGA women from Idemili North on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, at her office in Awka.
According to the woman leader, the visit was to felicitate with the Commissioner and reaffirm the unwavering loyalty and support of Idemili North APGA women to the party and the Soludo administration.
She assured the Commissioner of the group’s continued grassroots mobilisation and active participation in advancing the government’s people-centred programmes and development agenda across the state.

# The apex umbrella body of the Nnewi community in Anambra State, Nzukora Nnewi, has endorsed the return of the Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo.
Nzukora Nnewi maintained that the Mayor should complete what it described as his constitutionally recognised four-year tenure, while condemning what it termed “social media rascality” allegedly orchestrated by a prominent businessman and his associates to undermine the council boss.
The endorsement was made during a well-attended meeting of the organisation at the Nnewi Youth League Hall, Roundabout, where community leaders drawn from the four quarters of Nnewi unanimously declared their support for Anazodo’s continued leadership.
The meeting, presided over by the President-General of Nnewi, Prince Jude Osumuo, accused anti-Anazodo elements of attempting to derail the progress of the community through misinformation and divisive campaigns.
Stakeholders in their separate speeches in the meeting alleged that a certain businessman had dominated the affairs of the community for more than three decades through “surrogates and cronies,” insisting that Nnewi would no longer tolerate what they described as the manipulation of its political and communal institutions.
# The Community Women Leader and President General Ojoto Akanasato Women, Hon Mrs Anthonia Okonkwo has called for peace, unity and forgiveness for one another as veritable virtues that would engender progress and development in Ojoto community, Idemili South Local Government Area ( ISLGA), Anambra State.
Speaking during the 2026 August Women’s meeting which held at Ojoto Town Hall, the Outgoing, Mrs Okonkwo tasked Ojoto women to bear one another’s burden, embrace peace and Live together in love.
She encouraged women to support the incoming Inyom Ojoto Akanasato administration led by the Immediate Past Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Engr. Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo saying that the outgoing Exco would not relent in offering their experience whenever it was needed.
Presenting her farewell address, Mrs Anthonia Okonkwo who was flanked by the Vice President, Mrs. Susanna Ezekwelu and the General Secretary, Mrs Ifeoma Agwuncha, recalled that despite inheriting less than #25,000 from the association’s purse in 2022, God helped them to achieve some milestones and leave some funds in the association’s coffers.
# The Bishop of Ekwulobia Catholic Diocese, His Eminence Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, has called on Christians to pursue holy living, emphasizing that God’s true temple is not a magnificent physical structure but a community of faithful and righteous believers.
Cardinal Okpaleke made the call during his homily at the solemn dedication of St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, Ufuma.
Addressing the congregation, the Cardinal explained that although church buildings are sacred places of worship, God’s greatest dwelling place is in the lives of people who remain holy and faithful to Him.
He observed that a magnificent church building without holy Christians is “like a beautiful shell without life,” urging the faithful to become living stones in God’s spiritual house through lives of faith, obedience, and righteousness.
Drawing inspiration from the Scriptures, Cardinal Okpaleke encouraged worshippers to allow God to shape and transform them into a spiritual community worthy of His presence, reminding them that genuine Christian living is the foundation of a vibrant Church.
# The Vice-Chancellor of Peter University, Achina, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Umezinwa, has urged Nigerians to live upright and purposeful lives in preparation for eternity, reminding them that death is an inevitable reality for every human being.
Fr. Umezinwa made the call while delivering the homily at the Burial Mass of the late Rev. Fr. Longinus Egbeonu, held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area.
The cleric, who is also a Prof. of Music, noted that regardless of wealth, social status, or political office, no one is exempt from death.
Reflecting on the life of the deceased, Rev. Fr. Umezinwa described Fr. Longinus Egbeonu as a humble, dedicated, and selfless priest who consistently placed the needs of others above his own.
In his remarks, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, encouraged christians to see every death as a reminder of the transient nature of earthly life. He stressed that death spares no one, irrespective of wealth or social standing, and urged people to avoid pursuing worldly possessions through sinful means, noting that material wealth cannot secure eternal life.
# The Anambra State Ministry of Education has released a documentary video on the recent vandalism of the Community Education Resource Centre (CERC), Awka, reaffirming the state government’s resolve to protect public educational infrastructure and prosecute individuals involved in the destruction of government property.
The video, which documents the incident of August 1, shows the aftermath of the alleged vandalism, including aluminium window frames identified by the Ministry as items removed from the facility. It also captures the apprehension of a suspect by local vigilante operatives before he was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
Speaking on the incident, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, disclosed that the suspect is in police custody while investigations continue, stressing that the release of the documentary is intended to raise public awareness about the consequences of vandalising government property and to reinforce the state’s commitment to protecting critical educational infrastructure.
Dr. Ogugua said the action reflects Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s zero-tolerance policy against vandalism, describing the destruction of public facilities as an attack on investments made for the benefit of Ndi Anambra.
The commissioner noted that the Governor has consistently condemned vandalism, warning against the activities of illegal scrap metal dealers, popularly known as the “iron condemn” trade, which he said fuels the theft and destruction of public infrastructure.
According to him, the community education resource ventre was established to support teaching, learning.and teacher development, observing that vandalising such facilities undermines government efforts to improve the quality of education and expand access to modern learning resources.
#The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. # The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba has officially flagged off the Onitsha North and Onitsha South Federal Constituency All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Novelty Friendly Games.
Speaking during the flag-off, the Commissioner reaffirmed the importance of unity, sportsmanship and teamwork, describing the event as an avenue for strengthening relationships among party members while promoting peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and teamwork through sports.
Mr. Agha Mba expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the event, commending participants for their discipline, unity and respect for one another throughout the competition.
According to the commissioner, the games ended in an atmosphere of friendship, sportsmanship and shared celebration, reflecting the values of unity that the party seeks to promote.
