The Chairman of Njikoka local government area Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, alongside Anambra Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, other key stakeholders, embarked on a sensitization campaign across selected schools in Enugwu-Ukwu community, Njikoka LGA.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the sensitization campaign is part of efforts to combat and prevent the spread of measles.
Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Obidike, emphasized the need for early detection and prompt medical attention for suspected cases, stressing that timely response remains critical in preventing outbreaks.
In his address, Njikoka Mayor, Hon. Ononiba maintained that the initiative forms part of Governor Chukwuma
Soludo’s broader strategy to clamp down on measles outbreaks and strengthen public health awareness across Anambra State, with particular focus on Njikoka LGA.
The Mayor while flag-off the measles immunization, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of children in Njikoka.
In their separate speeches, health officials and Njikoka stakeholders noted that
the campaign which is focused on educating pupils, students, teachers, and school administrators on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and the importance of vaccination against measles, is a welcome development.
Schools visited during the sensitization exercise included Arinze Primary School, Enugwu-Ukwu, and St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu-Ukwu.
