The Managing Director of Crown Hospital, Dr. Edwin Emegoakor, who was reportedly kidnapped last Thursday evening, has been rescued by operatives of the SARS unit in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
the victim was found in a well-furnished duplex located around Obosi Junction.
The building, which allegedly served as a hideout for criminal activities, was equipped with CCTV cameras and suspected to have been used for unlawful operations.
During the rescue operation, other victims were also freed from the same location.
Security operatives immediately arrested the owner of the building as investigations continue into the activities linked to the property and possible members of the kidnapping syndicate.
Eyewitness reports confirmed that the building was later set ablaze following the operation, as tension and anger spread across the area over the shocking discovery.
ANN reports that the Secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, in Anambra State, Ifeanyi Obiaeli who broke the news of his rescue said that Dr Emegoakor is hale, hearty, in good spirit and has reunited with his family.
Obiaeli said that NMA received the news of the rescue of Dr Emegoakor while they were in a news briefing at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka.
The Nigeria Medical Association in Anambra State had given the government a 48 hour ultimatum to ensure the rescue of Dr Emegoakor from his abductors or face industrial action.
