Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Architect Henry Arize, has unveiled an ambitious blueprint aimed at transforming the Ministry into a professionally managed, technology-driven, financially disciplined and citizen-focused institution in line with the Solution Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Architect Arize while speaking with journalists shortly after his confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve in the administration
The Commissioner described the appointment as a call to greater responsibility, dedication and selfless service to ndi Anambra. He also commended the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and members of the 8th Assembly for the confidence reposed in him through the confirmation process while noting that he was ready and prepared before begging to apply for the position of housing commissioner.
Arc. Arize noted that housing remains a critical driver of social and economic development, stressing that his administration would prioritize policies and programmes capable of delivering decent, accessible and modern housing infrastructure across the state.
He assured that under his watch, the ministry would evolve into a “fit-for-purpose” institution capable of delivering infrastructure projects with efficiency, professionalism and accountability.
According to him, one of the major challenges confronting public projects is poor project definition and constant scope alterations, which often lead to contract variations and delays.
“I am bringing innovative solutions that will add value to the ministry and eliminate unnecessary contract variations through proper planning and improved project design. Public infrastructure projects must be properly defined before the award to avoid waste and inefficiency,” he stated.
The Housing Commissioner further disclosed plans to establish a strong project management system with measurable milestones, public dashboards and accountable timelines to ensure timely execution and monitoring of projects.
“Infrastructure delivery must be transparent and measurable. We will introduce digital tracking dashboards and strengthen project monitoring mechanisms with Project Monitoring and Evaluation Unit(PMEU) to ensure projects are completed on schedule,” he added.
Arc. Arize also announced plans to deploy modern technological tools such as Geographic Information System (GIS)-based site management, electronic permits and approvals, drone monitoring systems, digital archives and integrated databases to improve coordination and reduce inefficiencies within the ministry.
He assured Ndi Anambra that the ministry under his leadership would operate on the principles of transparency, merit, innovation and technology-driven governance.
The Commissioner emphasized that his over three decades of experience in project design and management had equipped him with the expertise and capacity required to drive the envisioned reforms and reposition the housing ministry for sustainable growth in Anambra State.
