Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has declared himself one of the greatest actors in the industry, insisting that the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) does not define his worth.
In a bold statement on Monday, Edochie expressed confidence in his legacy and revealed he is unbothered by the absence of AMVCA recognition.
“The movies and performances I have dropped from five, six years ago, no actor has been able to replicate it,” he said.
Edochie added: “AMVCA does not define my worth as an actor. When I started making film there was no AMVCA. When I studied theatre arts there was no AMVCA. So the plan was not to do this so that I will get AMVCA.”
He continued: “I am one of the greatest actors in Nollywood. You can’t contest it that.”
The actor stressed that he harbours no resentment towards the awards body. “I don’t have problem with AMVCA. Have you seen me rant on social media before. I am not bothered. I have fans from all over the world, even Tyrese has posted my clip before,” he stated.
Edochie’s comments have sparked fresh debate online about talent recognition and award influence within Nollywood.
