Prominent ADC presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has boycotted the announcement of the party’s presidential primary results over alleged widespread vote rigging.
Hayatu-Deen announced his decision on Tuesday via his X account, stating he would not attend the results declaration scheduled for the same day.
“I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today,” he declared. “I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps.”
The former Nigerian Economic Summit Group chairman said the irregularities marred the direct primary conducted on Monday. He is one of the leading contenders for the ADC ticket alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
The African Democratic Congress is expected to announce the outcome of its presidential and other primaries soon as it positions itself as a major opposition force for the 2027 general elections.
Hayatu-Deen has not yet disclosed his next line of action following the boycott.
