Kwankwaso Confident Obi Will Be ‘Sworn In’ as President in 2027

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, running mate to the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed strong confidence that Peter Obi will win the 2027 election and be sworn in as president.

Kwankwaso made the prediction on Friday while addressing party members during the affirmation of consensus aspirants in Kano State.

“I’m talking about Peter Obi, he will be flying our flag, and by the grace of God, on May 29, exactly one year from now, he will have been sworn in as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

The former Kano State governor described the smooth emergence of consensus candidates across constituencies as a historic moment that demonstrated unity within the party.

He commended party leaders, elders and supporters for resolving competitions peacefully, noting that some constituencies had more than 10 aspirants.

At the event, former Kano deputy governor Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo was affirmed as the party’s governorship candidate, while Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna emerged as the senatorial candidate for Kano Central. Other candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly were also ratified.

Kwankwaso, who leads the Kwankwasiyya Movement, thanked members of allied groups including the New Nigeria Peoples Party for their support.

The development comes shortly after Obi was named the NDC presidential candidate following his defection to the party.
