Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor has reaffirmed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to innovation and technology as the future of Anambra.
Dr Mefor spoke on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, while receiving a delegation from the Office of the Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Students Union Government, at his office in the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Aligning with the governor’s vision, the commissioner said tech is important.
“I must say that the governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, believes—and I agree with him—that the future of Anambra lies in innovation and technology, not merely in trade and commerce.
He noted Soludo’s practical steps, including the Solution Innovation District (SID), which has trained over 200,600 Anambra youths in tech and digital skills.
“Our products are not only employable here in Anambra and Nigeria; they are also exportable abroad. And now, our products are found in tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, etc.,” he said.
Dr Mefor also disclosed that the entire Old Government House premises have been handed over to SID to develop into “our own Silicon Valley, a digital hub, not just for Nigeria, but for Africa.”
He pledged to connect the students with SID Management for partnership and mentorship.
The commissioner urged students to shun distractions like cultism, ‘Okite’, and internet fraud, stressing the importance of hard work and focus.
“Good grades are 70% hard work… focus on the real things of life… where there is a will, there is a way,” he said.
He assured the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the students’ initiative and accepted, tentatively, their invitation to be keynote speaker at “Tech Media Expo 1.0” on July 3, 2026, subject to official engagements.
In his speech, the leader of the delegation and UNIZIK SUG PRO, Ifeanyi James Nduba, congratulated Dr Mefor and presented “Synergy Hub”—a tech and media mentorship platform built on “iron sharpens iron”.
Nduba said the hub pairs professionals with beginners to make students job-ready and invited the commissioner as the keynote speaker for the July 3 expo.
