# The Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Patrick Agha-Mba has called for continued collaboration and support from stakeholders.
Agha-Mba also commended philanthropists, chairmen of sports associations and the media for their contributions to development of sports in the state.
He made the commendation during a Thank You Luncheon meeting with stakeholders who have supported the sector before he assumed office as Commissioner in the enlarged ministry.
The Commissioner noted that the
continued collaboration and support for the ministry was crucial to the realisation of the objectives of the state government on the sector under the new bottom-up development approach.
# The Action Alliance (AA) candidate for Idemili North and South Federal constituency Hon. Ikechukwu Okonkwo has outlined his agenda ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Speaking during the June congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council held on Thursday
at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, NUJ Secretariat complex Awka, Okonkwo maintained that among all the political parties candidates jostling to represent Idemili North and South constituency in the Federal house of representatives, that he is the only one that has the idea and capacity on how to control and stop the much talked erosion menace tormenting the constituency for a long time.
The candidate promised to pursue legislation that will attract reliable and affordable electricity that will be available to all communities in the constituency which will in turn attract industrialization especially small scale industrialization that will create jobs for the people.
The House of Representative hopeful assured that he will pursue a bill for creation of well knit security maintenance system to ensure that ndi Idemili are secured as well as attract federal presence on educational scholarship schemes to the less privileged and indigents as well as attract Jobs in federal agencies for the people.
Hon. Okonkwo revealed that he was one of the founders of Village Boys Movement while assuring that he will partner with journalists by maintaining a strong synergy with the state NUJ executives to ensure the welfare of members are enhanced further.
# Anambra Attorney General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice Tobechukwu Nweke SAN has decided to review all pending criminal matters bothering on land disputes.
Speaking, Nweke said, the reason is to enable the AG determine such matters which are civil in nature and to discontinue such cases pursuant to the Powers vested in him by section 211(1)(c)of the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended
The Attorney in view of this, is calling on the general public to submit their complaints in respect of criminal cases involving land disputes pending against any person either in the high court of the State or in the magistrate courts which are believed to be civil in nature for the attorney generals review.
Still Speaking, Commissioner maintained that the complaints should contain a copy of the charge, information with proof of evidence and any other necessary documents which should be submitted to the Attorney Generals conference room ministry of Justice Jerome Udoji Secretariat Awka
# The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha joined members of the University community in welcoming the Catholic Bishop of Aguleri Diocese, Most Rev. Denis Chidi Isizoh, during his pastoral visit to the institution.
The Eucharistic celebration, which brought together staff, students, and faithful within the University community, also witnessed the confirmation of 65 communicants, marking a significant spiritual milestone for the beneficiaries and the University Chaplaincy.
Speaking after the Mass, the Vice-Chancellor described the institution as the Now University and of the Future, noting that the management’s presence was to formally receive and welcome the Bishop to the vibrant academic community. She emphasized that the University is built on a culture of love, unity, and shared responsibility, adding that faith-based engagements remain essential to the holistic development of students and staff.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Law Mefor, has called for intensified public education on tax laws and civic responsibility as a strategy for improving revenue generation and supporting the state’s development agenda.
Mefor made the call during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), Mr. Ikeazor Nnaemeka Okonkwo.
In his speech during the visit, Mefor emphasized the need to adopt a moral and educational approach to tax administration by sensitizing Ndi Anambra on tax laws, the importance of taxation, and the proper channels for tax payment.
The Commissioner noted that tax compliance should not be seen as a burden, especially by those in the informal sector, but rather as a civic obligation that contributes directly to the development of the state.
According to Mefor, there is a need for sustained public enlightenment to help citizens understand that government depends on taxpayers’ support to provide critical infrastructure and social services. He stressed that contrary to popular belief, government resources are limited and require the active participation of citizens through tax compliance.
# Anambra State Head of Service, Barr. Mrs Ngozi Iwouno says efforts are being intensified to modernize land administration processes in the area.
Iwouno stated this during a one day training programme for staff of the Ministry of Lands held in Awka.
The Head of Service remarked that land administration across the world remains a critical pillar of economic growth, social stability, infrastructure development, urban planning, investment promotion and sustainable governance.
Iwouno observed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s led administration is intensifying efforts to modernize land administration processes through reforms that promote transparency, accountability, digital transformations, ease of doing business and improved service delivery.
The Head of Service added that the effectiveness of any government land administration system is often a reflection of the strength, transparency and efficiency of its public institutions and charged staff of the ministry to be committed to duty, guided by ethics, accountable in their conducts, responsive to citizens and proactive in service delivery.
# Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor has reaffirmed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to innovation and technology as the future of Anambra.
Dr Mefor spoke while receiving a delegation from the Office of the Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Students Union Government, at his office in the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Aligning with the governor’s vision, the commissioner said tech is important.
He noted Soludo’s practical steps, including the Solution Innovation District (SID), which has trained over 200,600 Anambra youths in tech and digital skills.
Dr Mefor also disclosed that the entire Old Government House premises have been handed over to SID to develop into “our own Silicon Valley, a digital hub, not just for Nigeria, but for Africa.”
# The management of FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited, a subsidiary of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC, has appealed to customers and the general public in Anambra State to stop buying and selling under high tension cables.
Engr Tosin Caleb Fadairo, Head of Health Safety and Environment, First Power Electricity Distribution Company Limited, gave the advice while speaking to Journalists shortly after sensitizing traders at the popular aroma junction Awka, on the danger of trading under high tension cables.
He said sensitization campaign is in line with the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency.
Also speaking, the Head of Communication, First Power, Mr Izunna Okafor, warned that the company will embarked on a wide enforcement (disconnection exercise) of the affected buildings if the they falled to compliance.
He noted that the sensitization campaign is currently ongoing across the state.

# The Commissioner for Commerce, Anambra State, Hon. Nomso Chukwuma Ebonwu, has assured cooperative societies in the state of the Soludo administration’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement through strategic support, improved organization and access to government intervention programmes.
The commissioner gave the assurance when the Cooperative Federation of Anambra State (COFAS), led by its Vice President, Chief Okechukwu Chimelueze, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Awka on June 2.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Ebonwu expressed appreciation for the visit and conveyed the goodwill of the Anambra State Executive Council to members of the federation.
He described cooperatives as the simplest and most effective form of financial service delivery to rural communities, noting their critical role in grassroots economic development and financial inclusion.
The commissioner further said that government intervention funds are available for cooperative societies but emphasized the need for proper documentation and organizational databases to enable government identify genuine beneficiaries and assess the strength of existing cooperative societies across the state.
