Davido spotlights Oyo school abductions with custom “Bring Them Home” jacket at FIFA World Cup concert

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, used the global stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 countdown concert to draw attention to the plight of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

The singer took to the stage wearing a black leather jacket featuring green circular buttons inscribed with the names of victims from the May 15 attack in Oriire Local Government Area. Names of those still in captivity appeared in white lettering, while those confirmed dead were marked in red.c6eade

“BRING THEM HOME” was boldly printed on the back of the jacket, while he wore a white T-shirt emblazoned with “NIGERIA” on the front.

In a short address before his performance, Davido expressed sorrow over the ongoing crisis and called for urgent government action.

“Peace and love everywhere. May God be with the families of the abducted and the ones who have been killed,” he said.

“They still haven’t been rescued, we’re praying to God every day. We’re also praying to God that the government hastens… My country is going through a lot. We represent everywhere we go,” Davido added.

The concert at Crypto.com Arena served as a major promotional event ahead of the expanded 48-team tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Davido is also featured on the official World Cup soundtrack alongside other Nigerian artists.
