Anambra Government Assures Corps Members Of Safety, Welfare

The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and security of corps members deployed to the state, assuring them of a conducive environment throughout their service year.

Representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Course, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, conveyed the government’s assurance to over 1,500 corps members posted to the state.

Governor Soludo congratulated the corps members on completing their academic studies and responding to the nation’s call to service. He described their deployment to Anambra as a demonstration of patriotism, national unity, and commitment to national development.

The governor urged them to remain security conscious, law-abiding, and responsible throughout their stay in the state, while avoiding activities that could expose them to danger.

He emphasized that his administration remains focused on building a smart, livable, secure, sustainable, and prosperous homeland through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, technology, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and economic development.

Soludo encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the opportunities provided during their service year to learn from people of diverse backgrounds, build lasting relationships, and make meaningful contributions to their host communities. He also described Anambra as a center of commerce, industry, education, and human capital development, noting the entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and resilience of its people.

In a separate address, the Chairman of the NYSC Governing Council in Anambra State, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Ifeatu Emordi, urged the corps members to participate actively in all orientation camp activities.

He noted that the orientation programmes were carefully designed to develop leadership, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and entrepreneurial skills. He particularly encouraged participants to maximize the opportunities offered through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme, stressing the growing importance of practical skills and entrepreneurship in today’s competitive environment.

Agha Mba also challenged the corps members to embrace the Community Development Service (CDS) programme with dedication and use their talents to positively impact their host communities.

In her remarks, the Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Pauline Ojisua, formally presented the corps members and disclosed that the 2026 Batch ‘B’ contingent consists of 636 males and 864 females.

She explained that the orientation course is designed to instill discipline, patriotism, leadership, teamwork, and selfless service while preparing participants for the responsibilities ahead.

Mrs. Ojisua also commended the Anambra State Government for its continued support of the NYSC scheme, particularly in the areas of security, welfare, and infrastructure, which she said have contributed significantly to the success of the programme in the state.
