Senegal produced a dominant second-half display to crush Iraq 5-0 and boost their chances of advancing from the group stage at the 2026 World Cup.
The Lions of Teranga became the first African team to score five goals in a single World Cup match, keeping their knockout stage hopes intact with a commanding performance.
Iraq were reduced to 10 men early when Sulaka was sent off in the 13th minute. Senegal took the lead through Diara in the fourth minute and never looked back.
Sarr added a second shortly after the restart, before Pape Gueye scored twice in quick succession, including a stunning long-range strike. I. Ndiaye rounded off the scoring in the 83rd minute.
The result leaves Senegal well placed in their group, though they must now wait on other results to confirm progression.
