Police Arraign Anambra Publisher Over Defamatory Reports Against Soludo

The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned Mr. Ejike Ofoegbu, alleged owner and publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and iNews, before a competent court over allegations of publishing fabricated, false, and defamatory reports against the family of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arraignment took place on Monday, July 13, 2026, following the Command’s receipt of the suspect from the Department of State Services (DSS), Awka, and the conclusion of police investigations into a petition alleging the publication of false information capable of causing reputational harm and inciting public disaffection.

The Police said the suspect has been remanded in a correctional centre in the state pending further court proceedings.
The Command noted that it would refrain from making further comments on the matter to avoid prejudicing the ongoing judicial process.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
SP. Ikenga also urged members of the public, media practitioners, and publishers to verify information before publication, adhere to the ethics of responsible journalism, and comply with extant laws governing the dissemination of information.
