Chief Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, founder of the Jezco Group of Companies and father of socialite Jowizaza, has regained his freedom after being held by kidnappers for several days.
Ezeokafor was abducted on August 4 while travelling to a prayer ground in Awka, Anambra State.
His captors initially demanded N700 million in ransom before allegedly increasing the sum to N1.5 billion during negotiations, according to reports.
It remains unclear whether any payment was made.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed that Ezeokafor and a Reverend Sister abducted with him had been safely released.
Authorities said they were still working to establish the full circumstances of the release and gather information for ongoing investigations.
News of his freedom brought relief to family members and associates.
