A digitally altered photograph circulating online falsely suggests Peter Obi gave a public testimony about being cured of madness, according to a prominent Nigerian media figure who has debunked the image as fabricated.

Senator Babafemi Ojudu, a former Group Managing Editor of TheNEWS, P.M. News and TEMPO, said the viral image was doctored by people seeking to mislead the public.
“What you are seeing here is fake,” Ojudu said. “I was the Group Managing Editor of TheNEWS, P.M. News and TEMPO on the date this was supposedly published. I can state categorically that the material was digitally altered by propagandists.”
Ojudu said the fabricated version was created using a genuine, unrelated photograph as its base. “The one on the left was made up from the one on the right,” he said.
Clarification for concerned readers
Ojudu noted he had received numerous inquiries from people asking whether the image was authentic and used his statement to set the record straight.
“I hope this clarification settles the matter for the many people who have called or written to ask me about it,” he said.
The image had been shared widely on social media, presented alongside an authentic photograph as supposed proof of the claim.
Babafemi Ojudu served as the Senator for the Ekiti Central Senatorial District in Ekiti State, Nigeria.
Ojudu won his Senate seat under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
He later became a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the political merger in 2013, when the ACN joined forces with other major opposition parties to form the APC. He remains a member and a prominent chieftain of the ruling APC.
