Anambra Shines At 2026 National Teachers’ Awards

Anambra State has once again made a strong statement on the national education stage, winning nine of the 18 awards at the 2026 President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Awards.

The impressive feat, which saw the state secure eight awards outright in their respective categories and emerge first runner-up in another, further underscores the growing excellence of Anambra’s education sector.

The awards cut across teachers, school administrators and schools, highlighting the breadth of recognition earned by the state at the national level.

Anambra emerged overall best in the following categories: Public Primary School Administrator, Public Junior Secondary School Administrator, Private Junior Secondary School Teacher, Public Primary School Teacher, Private Junior Secondary School, Private Senior Secondary School, Private Junior Secondary School Administrator and Private Primary School.

The state also secured the first runner-up position in the Best Public Secondary School Teacher category.

Among the trailblazing winners is Mrs. Gloria Nkolika Odionu of Awada Primary School 4, Obosi, who clinched the prestigious Overall Best Public Primary School Administrator in Nigeria award.

Her outstanding achievement came with a Jetour black Jeep as the prize.

Also flying the Anambra flag high, Mrs. Agatha Chika Ofojindu of Urban Boys Secondary School, Onitsha, emerged as the Best Public Junior Secondary School Administrator in Nigeria.

Her accomplishment earned her a tricycle, popularly known as keke, as the prize.

Anambra also carted away additional prizes, including another Jetour black Jeep, a tricycle, deep freezers and laptops, associated with the various award categories won by the state.

The remarkable outing further reinforces Anambra’s growing profile as a leading state in education excellence, with its teachers, administrators and schools continuing to earn national recognition for outstanding performance.

The feat is also a testament to the collective efforts of education stakeholders in the state towards improving teaching, learning, school administration and overall educational outcomes.
