2027: Galadima claims APC offering millions to lawmakers to step down

A prominent opposition politician has alleged that large sums of money are being distributed to lawmakers to persuade them to surrender their party tickets in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), made the claims during an appearance on Arise News’ Primetime programme on Tuesday.

“Every member of the House of Assembly who agrees to forfeit his ticket for the APC candidate is currently being given N50 million, and the House of Reps will be given N200 million with a car,” Galadima said.

He further alleged that the cash was being shared by a woman at the Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, Abuja, under the protection of the Department of State Services (DSS).

“President Tinubu and all his governors are afraid of contest; they want to win unopposed. A lady at the Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, is currently sharing money, and the DSS is protecting the place,” he added.

The remarks come amid intensifying political manoeuvring in Nigeria as parties position themselves for the next national elections. Galadima, a long-time critic of the ruling party, has previously accused the APC of desperation to retain power.

There was no immediate response from the presidency, the APC or the DSS to the allegations.
