Odumeje Calls For Free Christian Pilgrimage Registration

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Prophet (Dr.) Chukwuemeka Cyril Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has called on the Anambra State Government to make Christian pilgrimage registration free to enable more Christians to participate in the programme.

Odumeje made the appeal on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, when the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Pilgrim Affairs in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Barrister Odira Ezeh, paid a courtesy visit to his ministry to strengthen collaboration between the state government and Christian religious institutions.

The cleric urged Christians to take their relationship with God seriously and participate in the ongoing registration for the 2026 Christian pilgrimage programme.

He noted that removing financial barriers would enable more believers, particularly those with limited financial resources, to benefit from the spiritual experience.

According to him, pilgrimage provides Christians with an opportunity for self-reflection, spiritual renewal and a deeper understanding of their purpose and responsibilities.

He called on the government and Christian leaders to work together to expand access to the programme and ensure that willing believers are not excluded because of financial constraints.

In his remarks, Ezeh commended Odumeje for his spiritual leadership and contributions to the spiritual and moral development of Ndi Anambra.

He described churches as important partners in promoting moral values, responsible citizenship and the overall well-being of the people.

Ezeh explained that the visit formed part of ongoing engagements with church leaders and other strategic stakeholders to promote Christian pilgrimage and strengthen cooperation between the state government and the Christian community.

He said the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo remained committed to initiatives supporting the spiritual, moral, social and economic development of Anambra State.

The Senior Special Assistant added that Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim was promoting initiatives to expand the benefits of pilgrimage, including a proposed Pilgrimage Exchange Programme aimed at encouraging religious tourism, attracting visitors, creating employment opportunities and boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.

Ezeh also disclosed that preparations were underway for the Anambra State Christian Pilgrims Summit, which is designed to educate residents on the importance and benefits of Christian pilgrimage under the theme, “Why Pilgrimage?”

He announced that registration forms for the 2026 Christian pilgrimage programme were on sale and urged interested residents to visit the Anambra State Pilgrim Affairs Office for registration and information on the requirements.

The SSA called on Odumeje and other Christian leaders to sensitise their congregations, guide intending pilgrims and encourage eligible members, particularly those requiring financial assistance, to participate in the programme.

He expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between the government and religious institutions would widen access to Christian pilgrimage and promote the spiritual interests of Ndi Anambra.
