Work Begins On 7.04km Coca-Cola Junction–Isiagu Dual Carriageway

Residents and business owners along the Coca-Cola Junction–Isiagu road in Awka have expressed excitement over the commencement of construction and dualisation of the 7.04-kilometre road, a major access route to the proposed Anambra Aerotropolis City.

Designated Lot 3, the project stretches from Coca-Cola Junction through the Agu-Awka axis of Zik’s Avenue to the Isiagu axis. It is expected to improve connectivity, ease transportation and stimulate commercial activities along the corridor.

Construction work commenced in the first week of October 2026, with the construction team having cleared and grubbed more than 2.4 kilometres of the project route.

Speaking on the project, a project engineer with Ag.Vision Construction Company, Engineer Omamofo Ken-Wiwa, said the road would be constructed as a dual carriageway, with each carriageway measuring 7.3 metres wide.

He explained that the design also provides for walkways on both sides of the road, a central median and streetlights.

Ken-Wiwa said the contractor was expected to complete and deliver the project before September 2027, adding that mobilisation to the site had proceeded smoothly.

He commended the Anambra State Government for its funding arrangements, noting that payments for mobilisation and work certificates had been made as and when due.

Addressing concerns about road durability, the project engineer assured residents that the company was committed to delivering quality infrastructure in line with the required standards and within the agreed timeframe.

He added that discussions had been held at the Ministry of Works to strengthen measures for ensuring that the quality and value of infrastructure delivered to the state corresponded with the funds expended.

Also speaking, the Area Manager of the construction company, Engineer Salloum Saowaf, confirmed that work began in early October, assuring that the company was making efforts to ensure quality delivery within the stipulated completion period.

Residents and business owners along the route welcomed the commencement of the project, expressing optimism that the completed road would improve accessibility and boost economic activities in the area.

The road dualisation forms part of ongoing infrastructure development aimed at improving access to the proposed Anambra Aerotropolis City and strengthening road connectivity within and around Awka.
