Anambra Police Arrest Wanted Suspect Over Alleged Armed Robbery, Kidnapping

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old wanted suspect, Udochukwu Okafor, popularly known as “Small-Moto,” during an intelligence-led operation in Ebenebe community.

The suspect was reportedly on the Command’s wanted list over alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, cult-related activities and secessionist-related offences.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following targeted efforts to apprehend him.

During preliminary interrogation, Okafor allegedly confessed to snatching a pump-action firearm from a vigilante operative in Ebenebe. He also reportedly disclosed that he possessed a locally made short gun, which he and other suspected gang members allegedly used in their criminal operations.

The suspect further allegedly admitted to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Aro-Baggers,” a group suspected of involvement in cult-related violence in Awka and its environs.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a press release, adding that investigations had been intensified to recover the firearms reportedly mentioned by the suspect and establish the full extent of his alleged involvement in criminal activities.

SP. Ikenga said the Command was also working to apprehend other suspected members of the gang who remained at large.

Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The Command reiterated its commitment to identifying and arresting individuals suspected of criminal activities to ensure public safety and security across the state.
