Don’t Disappoint Anambra People: Bishop Tells APGA

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) not to disappoint Anambra people by lowering the standard of governance.

The bishop said the trust and confidence repose in the party by the electorate should not be taken for granted.

Ezeokafor gave the advice at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, during a victory Thanksgiving mass organized in the honour of Anambra State Chapter of APGA.

He said APGA’s feat in the last gubernatorial election was destined by God.

‘Your victorious outing in the last gubernatorial election in the state was made possible by God. It was a hard-fought victory. We all witnessed what happened before the election. I’m not a card-carrying member of any political party but I watch and monitor political proceedings.

‘Last gubernatorial election was not easy for APGA. Ndi Anambra voted because of what they believe the party has done over the years. We want that to continue. You must continue to provide that dividends of democracy to the people. Expectations are high,” he said.

The Cleric admonished the party to guard the mandate given to it by Ndi Anambra jealously and judiciously.

He also charged the party’s hierarchy to continue to work for the greater good of the people, noting that the electorates voted for the party to continue and improve on their good works in the state.

He advised that the welfare of the people of Anambra should be first thing in the government agenda.

Bishop Ezeokafor commended the APGA leadership for coming to appreciate God for what He had done for the party.

Chairman, APGA, Anambra State Chapter, Sir Norbert Obi, thanked the bishop for the admonition and assured that the party would continue to churn out quality leadership in the state.

Some of those who attended the Thanksgiving Mass include the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Rev Fr Francis Chidume, the former Senator Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Sir Victor Umeh, the deputy Governor-Elect, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the member representing Njikoka II in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Sir Pete Ibida, Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South LGA, Hon Leo Nwuba, ANSAA Boss, Sir Jude Emecheta, among others.
