Honorable members of the Anambra State house of assembly on Tuesday, called on the commissioner of police, Anambra command, to return police checkpoints and patrol teams in and around Anambra State.
Honorable Onyebuchi Augustine Offor the Minority leader moved the motion to return police checkpoints and patrol teams in Anambra State.
Pointed out that the need for this checkpoints, was because of the rise in insecurity within Anambra state.
He plead with the governor Prof Charles Soludo to call on the Anambra command, commissioner of police to instruct his men to reposition Police checkpoints.
Also to make sure that the police patrol teams are working effortlessly in making sure that the insecurity in Anambra state is brought to check.
He stressed that the reason for the rise in criminality such as armed rubbery, kidnapping, tricycle and car theft was due to the absence of security checkpoints on Anambra roads.
During his submission in the plenary, he opined that if security checkpoints which were withdrawn from the roads, returned back to it’s post and police men position at check points to stop and search pattern.
The peaceful security system of Anambra will be returned back.
Honorable Pete Chima Ibida amongst other honorable members pledge his support for the motion on discuss about returning police checkpoints and patrol teams in Anambra State.
He plead for amendment that police checkpoints should not just return back but it should return at intermediate intervals.
He also cried out that the insecurity in the state is turning into something else.
It was later resolved by the members of the honorable house of assembly that the governor calls on the commissioner of police to instruct his men to return back to checkpoints at intermediate intervals.
