Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has expressed optimism that the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be victorious in next year’s presidential election.
He said the synergy among pressure groups within the party would ensure that every voter is mobilised to vote for Asiwaju Tinubu.
The Deputy Senate President urged party officials and members to shun divisive utterances and actions as campaigns for the 2023 elections are about to officially start.
Omo-Agege, who spoke at the inauguration of the Delta State chapter of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) in Asaba, the state capital, urged party members and supporters to familiarise themselves with programmes and policies of Asiwaju Tinubu and the ruling party.
The Deputy Senate President condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for rejecting power rotation doctrine by nominating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Omo-Agege added: “APC has kept faith with rotation principles, as enshrined in its constitution by nominating Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a southerner, as the presidential candidate.
“We have a formidable southern candidate in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is very important because the current democratic dispensation is anchored on the unwritten convention of power rotation driven by equity. It stands on established principle of giving every part of the country an important stake in political arrangements.
“On the other hand, the PDP, in order to satisfy the political ambition of two men – Atiku Abubakar and Okowa – ate its own vomit, threw away its constitution, and rejected decency and justice embedded in power rotation and nominated Atiku Abubakar to the detriment of the entire Southern Nigeria.”
He hailed the TSO for creating a platform to network support for Asiwaju Tinubu across the country.
TSO State Coordinator Philip Kachikwu eulogised the APC presidential flag bearer, describing him as “a political living legend, a builder of people and resources”.
He described TSO as a grassroots organization with coordinators across the 25 local government areas in Delta State.
