There is no Nigerian alive today who has made as much effort as Atiku Abubaka has made to become the president of Nigeria. I am not saying Atiku doesn’t deserve to rule this country. He is a Nigerian and has as much right to be a president in this country as anybody else. However, there is a defect in Atiku’s character that has prevented him from being president and which, I can swear will ensure that he doesn’t rule this country for good: Atiku’s extreme ambition; his greed for power.
Atiku’s quest and greed to rule Nigeria are completely outrageous. His perversion to become Nigeria’s president can be compared to Golon’s lost for the ring of power in the Lord of the Ring. I believe Atiku is uncontrollably sold to his greed to rule Nigeria that his soul has become poisoned in the process of pursuing its realization. In fact, cannot truthfully vouch that Atiku is fully aware of what he is doing now. Greed has a way of making you blind that you see only the object of your greed.
Take for instance, if Atiku had curtailed his perversion for power, becoming a president would have been a walk over for him after Obasanjo. But no, he rebelled. He wanted to overthrow his boss. That was why Obasanjo swore that he would never be alive and allow Atiku to rule Nigeria. Obasanjo saw the greed and avarices that burn in Atiku’s heart and got so scared what such a man would do to Nigeria if left in his care. One would have thought that Atiku learnt his lessons with Abasanjo but did he? Your guess is as good as mine. Â
Atiku betrayed Jonathan as well and helped to forge the alliance that saw to Jonathan’s downfall. However, in doing so, Atiku destroyed the institution and structure that would have made him president. Why is Atiku talking about party supremacy today? Did Atiku believe in party supremacy? No, because if Atiku believed & respected party supremacy as he is insisting with Mr. Ayu, GEJ would have transitioned power to him in 2019. Yes, but Atiku’s avarice for power made him to feel that Jonathan’s second term would destroy his chance to become president. This was exactly what happened between him and Obasanjo when Atiku wanted Obasanjo not to go for second term because doing so would hamper his own chances.
As a man with extreme ambition, Atiku sank the PDP thinking that would make him president. He was disappointed when APC didn’t offer him their ticket. He had thought he would be able to buy his way to the ticket without realizing that there were money-bags like Tinubu in the party whose avarice for power equaled his. He ran back to PDP.
Therefore, whatever Wike, Ortom, Seyi makinde & cohorts do today is simply karma and believe, you me, by 2023 we will know if it is served chilled or hot. Atiku doesn’t need to feel betrayed. If Rivers money and votes for PDP is valued, then River State’s wishes should also be looked into and resolved just as other states.
However, I believe the problem rocking PDP is not about Ayu and the party’s leadership. It has more to do with nemesis than with party-leadership squabbles. Atiku’s excessive greed for power has made him step on too many toes and you don’t step on these number of toes and go scot free. Atiku is paying for the long line of betrays he visited on those who trusted him with their and you good thing about karma is that it doesn’t forget.
The Southeast has all these years served PDP faithfully so much so that everybody felt that the party would choose a Southeasterner to fly its presidential flag. An agreement would have been reached but not for Atiku’s greed for power. Atiku hatched a plan that threw open the ticket. He knew that he would use his ill-gotten wealth to buy the ill-constituted delegates to vote for him. Well, he has had his way but I have no doubt that they will all live to regret the day the forced Peter Obi out of PDP.
Atiku hired Ayu as a stooge to do his biddings. That was why it is so difficult for him to cast Ayuaside in spite of all the pressure coming from Wike’s side. The PDP under Ayu has lost many states and important party stalwarts. They even disqualified and suspended Mr. Valentine Chineto Ozigbo who was its guber CANDIDATE in the #AnambraDecide2022. A Man who gave the party a facelift and brought in a lot of innovations and energy in campaigns. They will also not let Val run for senate. PDP under Mr. Ayu also lost the firebrand Sen. Abaribe to APGA. You may have a different opinion but my take is that Atiku has reached his final bus stop. Nemesis has caught up him and all that is left for him is to retire quietly to his palatial in Dubai to enjoy the wealth he stole from Nigeria for the remaining part of his life. After all, did Obasanjo not say that the money Atiku stole from this country is inexhaustible? Â
