…A police station once open, will never close till enternity. We will continue to replicate this step if we have the opportunity
…Communities should support their vigilante because security is everybody’s business
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba on Wednesday 21 December 2022 commissioned an ultra modern divisional police station, attached with a police barracks for senior officers at Amawbia along Nise road in Awka South LGA, Anambra State.

“This is one of the structures we had to put in place to motivate and encourage our officers in having a better place to work. We need more of this edifice to accommodate our officers and provide good working environment.
“A police station once open, will never close till enternity. We will continue to replicate this step if we have the opportunity. I believe people will have the courage to come in here and get the services the desire.
“Our challenges in the South East is not hidden and your determination to leave together is encouraging. You have an amiable governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo who is security friendly and he has been assisting us in making Anambra State a condusive environment that is free from threat.
“I want to congratulate officers of Anambra police command which has a leadership that is responsible. We expect your loyalty and commitment. We have done our best in adding value to where we are.
“Vigilante operatives are key in our crime fighting. The vigilante operatives have done well, without them we will not succeed. We urge communities to support their vigilante. Security is everybody’s business, security is not keeping quiet when you see what is going wrong, or what you should do.
Speaking on the new divisional police station, Baba who is the 21st Indigenous IGP said it is an initiative to give operatives of the police a conducive working environment, to enable them give their very best.
“This is one of the projects we have put in place for our officers to have a great place to work and retire into. We need more edifices like this to be able to provide our men with the good environment to work.
“It will provide service for people around here and we will replicate this in other places to ensure that we give our officers the best and in the spirit of federal character, we will continue to do this in places that we can. We have one in Enugu too, which we will commission today.
