* The officers of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade), has been urged to be professional and block loopholes negatively affecting the organization. The Managing Director, Sir Celestine Anere, while addressing his men on office reformation, work ethics, as well as recruitment during the morning parade dwelt on pre and pro disciplinary functions of the outfit.
* The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities has held its fourth year anniversary in commemoration of its Disability Rights Law established in 2018. In his keynote speech, the chairman, JONAPWD, Anambra State Chapter, Comr Ugochukwu Ernest Okeke, thanked all for honouring their invitation. He said the essence was to call the attention of the public, government and major stakeholders, to enlighten them on the general conditions affecting their affairs and the need to protect the rights of persons with disability.

* Embattled chairman of Onitsha Bridgehead market, Anambra State, Hon. Chinedu Akweke, has denied visiting Awka, the state capital, with about #3.8 million bribe on behalf of victims of recent Onitsha drug, (Ogbogwu) chemical explosion, to get permission for reconstruction of their destroyed shops.
The victims who allegedly contributed the money were said to have demanded from Akweke, refund of their money since he (Akweke) was turned back by top functionary he went to give the bribe on behalf of the victims.
* The member representing Orumba South Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emma Nwafor, has inaugurated his campaign council for his re-election for the forthcoming 2023General Elections. The seventy-four-man council was inaugurated at Ezira, the country home of the legislator, during his meeting with his constituents. Inaugurating the council members who were drawn from all the wards that make up Orumba South Constituency, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Neville Uchendu, charged them with the responsibility of ensuring victory for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and Honourable Nwafor in every polling unit across Orumba South Constituency during the 2023 polls.
* The lawmaker representing Idemili North and South Local Goverment Areas in the House of Representatives, Hon Obinna Chidoka has constructed and completed work on a block of classroom in Uke. The construction of the block of classroom has become so vital for the students and teachers of the school. Teaching and learning was not as it should be in Uke Community Secondary School before the lawmaker’s intervention as some of the students had to stay under the tree for their class works.
* The embattled Caretaker Committee chairman of Onitsha Bridgehead Market, Anambra State, Hon. Chinedu Ezekweike Akweke, has allegedly been suspended by 11 out of 13- man Committee and subsequently replaced on acting capacity by Hon. Pascal Chinedu Ezekwere. In the petition signed by the 11 member committee and sent to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, and made available to newsmen in Onitsha Sunday, they stated that the chairmanship vacuum has been filled by Ezekwere, pending the outcome of the investigation instituted against the embattled chairman on his alleged misdeeds.
* A young man identified as Uchenna James Okafor, has allegedly died after he was arrested and taken into custody in Akwuzu, Anambra state. A social Justice campaigner who shared the sad story on Twitter, claimed the deceased was one of the three boys arrested last week for fighting.
Reacting to the Tweet, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said he had asked the spokesperson, Anambra state police command to look into the matter and revert to him.
* Nigerian writer and journalist, Izunna Okafor, on January 9, 2023, clocked 29 years of age.
Announcing this on his social media handle on Monday, Okafor said he almost forgot that today is his birthday, having been obsessed with the activities of the burial ceremony of his father, Mr. Josephat Okafor Udeze.
The award-winning literary figure and journalist had, in a recent interview with this reporter, described his life as one filled with testimonies, looking back to where and how he started.
* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Onitsha North Constituency 1 State House of Assembly Hon. Nwaeze Tony Nwora has urged Nigerians especially the Youths to go to their respective wards for the collection of their Permanent Voters Card (PVC). This according to him has become imperative so as to avoid being played again politically. The popular House of Assembly candidate also called on his constituents of Onitsha North Constituency 1 to ensure that they pickup their PVC from their respective wards.
* According to reports, Daniel a 200L student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, from department of Mathematics lost his life while trying to drag his phone with Armed robbers that came to raid his lodge. During the process, he was shot on his stomach. He was quickly rushed to hospital. Sadly, he gave up the ghost due to the excess loss of blood.
ANN learnt that the sad incident happened at Success Lodge Ifite.
* Police authorities in Anambra State have said that a suspect identified as Uchenna, who died in police custody would be taken for autopsy to ascertain the cause of his death.
The man was said to have been arrested alongside two other persons for fighting, and were detained at the Police Annex at Awkuzu, when he died. There had been reports that the suspect’s father had gone to bail him, but was asked to pay N150,000, and was working to raise the money when his son was announced to have died in custody. DSP Tochukwu Ikenga while reacting said no money was demanded from Uchenna’s family.
