* Anambra State Governor’s Wife, Nonye Soludo, has assured that the state government will continue to implement strategic health policies to eliminate maternal and infant deaths. The governor’s wife gave the assurance in Awka, during the training of health care workers on clinical procedures for ending neonatal deaths in Anambra State.
* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Ike Oye, says Anambra is the most progressive state in the Southeast region of Nigeria judging from the transitions and transformations the APGA government has achieved since it became the ruling political party in the state. Oye, who stated this during an exclusive chat with our correspondent in Amawbia Awka-South local government area of the state, said APGA had placed Anambra at a vantage position such that it was taking the lead in governance and administration.
* The member representing Anambra West Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Patrick Obalum-Udoba, has called on his constituents to ensure that they get their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to be eligible to vote in the forthcoming general elections. He made the call while speaking to newsmen in his Umueze Anam country home, adding that the PVCs are the only instrument that would ensure that all eligible voters vote in the upcoming elections.
* The Anambra State Police Command has taken the battle against crime to cultists in Obosi Idemili-North local government area where police operatives killed one, arrested two cultists and recovered some items. This is contained in a press statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony.
* The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, NOTAP, has commissioned Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus. NOTAP, which is domiciled under the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, is concerned with intellectual property protection for inventors and researchers, as well as providing platform for marketing of inventions.
* Anambra State residents have tagged billionaires in the State as selfish, following their inability to raise 19 million naira hospital bill for the woman who delivered sextuplets in the State. The billionaires they are tackling are the Labour Party LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, the Oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze and Senator Uche Ekwunife. Others are, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah,, Hon Chris Azubogu, representing Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Chief Chris Uba and his elder brother, Andy
* The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has sensitize traders at Onitsha Main Market and the general public on the redesigned naira notes. The team, led by the state Controller, CBN Awka, Mr. Benedict Maduagwu, while addressing the market executive and traders, said the sensitization will enable the public have an open mind with regards to the redesigned naira notes. The chairman, Onitsha Main Market, Chief Ikechukwu Ezeoha, appreciated the CBN for taking the sensitization to the market while appealing that the redesigned notes be made available to banks.
* The People of Anambra Central senatorial zone, have vowed to deliver the Labour Party LP senatorial candidate, Senator Victor Umeh and not Uche Ekwunife or Dozie Nwankwo.
The decision, according to them, was taken in December in different meetings involving members of different political parties in the zone. They said if Umeh had not been in the senatorial race, they would have gone for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe
* Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Echeng Echeng have ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Commanders of Tactical/Operational Units/Formations to embark on aggressive crime-prevention and visibility patrols in their areas of responsibility.
This plan shall enhance adequately already policing strategy put in place that is potently and dynamic to respond to any emergency, and security concerns and prevent untoward activities by criminal elements.
* A three-day training workshop on good agricultural practices for 2022-2023 dry season Rice farmers in Anambra State, has ended in Awka, the state capital. The training workshop, organized by the federal minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with IFAD Assisted Value Chain Development Programme was for Rural Poor Stimulus Facilities, RPSF, and the 2022-2023 Dry Season Rice farmers in Anambra State under IFAD VCDP.
* A performance appraisal of the Nigeria’s 9th National Assembly, which was sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) shows that senator Uche Ekwunife of Anambra Central, Stella Oduah of Anambra North and Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra South have topped the list of Nigerian sitting senators, with the highest number of dumped bills. A copy of the performance appraisal showed that the senators from Anambra State topped the list of lawmakers with the most stagnated bills since the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly on June 11, 2019.
