* Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR will chair a six man committee set up by the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) to engage the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in addressing anomalies in the country’s monetary management and financial system.

The committee also have the governors of Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Borno, Plateau and Jigawa as members 

* The Chairman Anambra State Urban Regeneration Council, Architect Mike Okonkwo has expressed happiness at the on-going road projects at the Club street -Ngozika and Regina-Caeli -Old INEC-Y-junction road in Awka which cuts across two local government areas, Awka South and Awka North, noting that the quality of the stone base alone has not been seen in the state before even as he commended Governor Soludo for insisting on quality work.

* A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State has remanded a business man one Sunday Chukwuemeka Ekwueme (Sunny Bigman) in police custody over alleged offence of conspiracy, fraud and terrorism.

Ekwueme was also remanded for willful destructions of private properties with armed thugs at Umueze Ogwogwu village in Oba, Idemili South local government area of the state.

* The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr. Felix Ikechi has called on Ndi Anambra West to collect their permanent voter cards to enable them to vote during the forthcoming general elections. Mr. Ikechi who made the call at the local government headquarters Nzam said that PVC remains the only instrument eligible voters will use to vote in credible leaders during the polls. He maintained that the Local Government needs competent leaders that will help to move it forward and as such, Ndi Anambra West must elect leaders who have the interest of the council area at heart.

* Nsugbe Council of Elders, the highest decision-making body in Nsugbe community in Anambra state, Southeast Nigeria, has excommunicated former Senator Alphonsus Igbeke, aka Ubanesse from all community activities till further notice. The council otherwise known as ‘Ndi Eze Nsugbe’ also imposed a fine of N1 million against the senator for using the police to hound youths who oppose his reign of terror in the community.

* The Knight of Saint John International Commandry 434 and Ladies Auxiliary 363, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, have sought collaboration with Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, ahead of official reception for the Catholic Bishop of Ekwukobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Ebele Okpaleke. A committee for the event led by the President of Knight of Saint John International of the Commandry, Sir Vincent Otikpa stated this when he led other members on a courtesy call to the Managing Director of the ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, at the corporate headquarters of the establishment, Awka.

 

* The Candidate of APGA for Orumba North and South Federal House of Representatives, Sir Eric Kanayo Eze (Ochiagha Orumba) Commiserate with the Hon Commissioner for Children and women affairs Anambra State, Hon Mrs Ify Obinabo as she buries her father, Late Mr Sylvester Nwankwo Ashiegbu of Ufuma Community in Orumba North, aged 91 years. Ochiagha Orumba described Late Mr Ashiegbu as a legend who lived life worthy of emulation and pray for God to grant him eternal rest. 

* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has reaffirmed his plea for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who has been detained since 2021. Kanu’s release, according to Soludo, will play an important part in the calm build-up to the upcoming general election, which will take place next month.

* The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed the report of rape of female students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka by gunmen, calling for victims of rape to come up to the command for complaint.

Some news organisations had reported that gunmen who invaded off campus hostels in Ifite, had raped up to 10 female students and also injured as much as 20 others.
