* In a quest to discover and harness the potentials of youths in Oyi and Ayamelum federal constituency through sporting activities, the YPP candidate for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Okafor (Wiper) kicked off the anticipated football talent Hunt at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church Field Awkuzu. The sporting activities cover all the towns in the two local government area of Oyi and Ayamelum that make up the federal constituency.
* It was a dramatic scene as some bank customers fought dirty while many others slept on the pavement while queuing to withdraw the new naira notes at different ATMs across Awka the Anambra state capital. Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria had given the last day of January this year as the expiration date of old ₦200, ₦500, and ₦1000 naira notes, as the trio would no longer be accepted as legal tenders after the date. The apex Bank had also, since 2022, been urging Nigerians to deposit their old notes in the bank and withdraw the new naira notes, to avoid being caught up with the deadline.
* Ayamelum Ambassadors Club has donated campaign materials to High Chief Julius Igwebuike Okoye for his senatorial ambition and promised to donate more materials including logistics in order to make sure that his victory was not denied come February 2023.
The President of Ayamelum Ambassadors Club, Hon Emenike Emengini (Agujiegbe N’Umueje) described High Chief Julius Igwebuike Okoye as a philanthropist who cared for everyone including the less privileged in Ayamelum and across the Anambra North senatorial zone.
* Coordinator of All Progressive Congress (APC), Presidential Campaign Management Council in Anambra State, Senator Margret Okadigbo has spoken of the rebirth of the party ahead of its mega rally slated for today Tuesday. According to her the party is now one, focused and a united family. She made the statement during the tour of Anambra State owned Alex Ekwueme Square facility for its presidential campaign rally slated for Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 in Awka, the State Capital. Okadigbo said the party had been taken back to the wards which is the grassroots of all political activities.
* The campaign train of the Zenith Labour Party candidate for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the February 25 election, Dr. Amaechi Nwachukwu has taken the message of rescuing Oyi/Ayamelum to Awkuzu ward 4 where he met excited and joyous voters who came out en masse to receive him. Nwachukwu solicited for their vote urging them to get their PVC.
* Commercial activities in Awka is yet to return to normal given the incessant practice of Monday Sit-At-Home. As usual, markets, banks, motor parks, and petrol stations remained shut on Monday. ANN went round the city of Awka to feel the pulse of the people visiting location such as Aroma, Regina junction, Temp site, Zik Avenue, Eke Awka and Amawbia. It was observed that Banks at the locations visited were locked with costumers who came to withdraw cash left stranded.
* Anambra Assembly Chief Whip Sir Pete Ibida has met with the students of John Innovation Institute Of Management And Technology Neni (JIIMATECH) to seek their support and votes in the forthcoming elections. Hon. Pete Ibida and his entourage received a resounding welcome from the school. The rector of the school, Rev Fr Francis Enyosiobi, upon welcoming Ibida, eulogized him tremendously citing his track record of excellence. He commended him for the major roles he constantly played in education. Chief Ibida who is the APGA flagbearer for Dunukofia, Anaocha and Njikoka federal constituency thanked the rector for his warm welcome. He solicited their support for his candidacy. He reminded them of the dividend that awaited the educational sector once he is voted in.
