NAWOJ Felicitates With Anambra Women, Calls For An End To Gender Based Violence

Bringing women into technology will result in more creative solutions

The Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra chapter, Franklyn Onyekachi has urge women to keep the positive energy towards creating a better environment for all, especially children.

The NAWOJ chairperson while rejoicing and felicitating with women on the celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day maintained that women are enterprising, resilient, hard-working, resourceful and an epitome of love and unity to their families, communities, state, and nation and deserve to be celebrated.

“Innovation and technology for gender equality places a demand on all women to embrace technology to touch lives. We urge our women to embark on self-development.

“We also use the opportunity of today’s celebration to call for an end to all forms of Gender Based Violence especially violence against women and girls even as we stress the need for an inclusive society where everyone is carried along.

God bless Anambra women.

“The United Nations observance of International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrates women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.

“The IWD 2023 will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities. The event will also spotlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT- facilitated gender-based violence.

“We also call on the state government to devise more result-yielding measures at ensuring Women’s development and empowerment, as bringing women into technology will result in more creative solutions and has greater potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality as their lack of inclusion, by contrast, comes with massive costs.

“We congratulate all the women who won in the just concluded National Assembly elections and charge them to perform creditably and make us proud.

“We urge those who lost the election to accept defeat gallantly as there is always tomorrow. We also wish all the women contesting the State Assembly election success in their different constituencies.
