* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for early commencement of the voting process in the state. Governor Soludo gave the commendation shortly after voting at Polling Unit 002 Ovuiyi Umueze, Isuofia, Aguata Council Area at 11:30 am yesterday.

* The Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir. Chido Obidiegwu has said that Primary Healthcare Centers in rural communities are the closest to grassroot healthcare service delivery. Sir Obidiegwu said this when members of the Civil Society In Malaria Control, Immunisation and Nutrition, ACOMIN, paid him a familiarization visit in his office at the ABS Corporate Headquarters in Awka.

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged men within the ‘risk age’ brackets to embrace the prostrate surgery package recently introduced into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme. Mrs Soludo who stated this in Awka while reacting to introduction of the new health package into the state’s insurance programme, noted that with prostate diseases being one of the most common among men within certain ages, the new package will help greatly in not only detecting prostate-related sicknesses but treating them as well.

* An official of the Directorate of States Services (DSS) has allegedly killed a man in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Sources said the man whose wife was just delivered of a baby was preparing to go see his wife and new baby in the hospital, when he was shot, after a suspect pursued by security agents ran into his compound. The killing sparked off series of protests in the town as youths of Ogidi community took the corpse to the local government headquarters, demanding to see the local government chairman.

* The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike has said that promotion is an entitlement of workers and not privilege. Dr. Akabuike disclosed this during the promotion interview for the staff of the hospital. The CMD urged the workers to appreciate the Anambra state government for the good gesture by being responsive and dedicated to duty, and commended Governor Soludo for increasing worker salary in the state.

* The determination of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, to complete her legislative term strongly gathered momentum as her school hostel project at Bubendorf Memorial Grammar School, Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State nears completion. Ekwunife who inspected the project noted that education is a sector government at all levels should pay attention to, describing the sector as the bedrock of the society.

* The former first Lady of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Vickie Obiano, has dismissed the allegation that she had raged at Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for whatever reason. She described the infamous article as a clandestine piece of work authored by political jobbers with no name but who are jittery for the APGA flag bearers in the House of Assembly elections.

* The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has commenced free medical healthcare outreach to women and children in seven local government areas ravaged by 2022 flooding in Anambra State. The 5-day free healthcare services which witnessed hundreds of women and children on the first day included COVID-19 vaccine and immunization.

* It was all tears, grief, emotions and wailing as family members, friends and colleagues of a twenty-year-old police Constable, Emmanuel Ozojie who was among the four officers gruesomely murdered by Unknown Gunmen at Awada Police Station, on 20th February, 2023, was laid to rest at his father’s compound Eziama Village, Nnokwa Community, Idemili South local government area of Anambra state. Sadly, Ozojie had not received his first salary as a police officer before he was gunned down in active service.

The young officer had already purchased the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB form for his further studies when the call to join in salvaging his father land compelled him to join the police force.
