* The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has survived the wave of the OBIdient Movement in the March 18 House of Assembly election in the state. ANN reports that results obtained from various constituencies of the just concluded Anambra state house of assembly elections shows that the APGA has clinched 17 seats in the 30-man assembly, forming the majority members of the house. Labour Party won eight seats, while YPP got three seats and PDP retaining two seats.

* Senator-elect for Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr. Tony Nwoye felicitates with Anglican Church mothers as they commemorate the occasion of this year’s Mothering Sunday celebration. Dr. Nwoye says call of motherhood is service-oriented and social responsibility taxing and admonishes Anglican mothers to always exhibit the character of humility in service. 

* The Transition Committee chairman, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi, attributed the peaceful conduct of the exercise to the provision of adequate security by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Mr. Onyemaobi commended Governor Soludo and security agencies for eliminating crime in the state and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure that the results of the election reflect the votes cast. 

* Victims of 2022 flood disaster in Nkpor-uno Idemili North Local Government Area have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing medical outreach being carried out by United Nations Childrens Fund, UNICEF and the Anambra state government in the community.

The officer in charge of the Health facility Mrs Grace Anyakorah while speaking to newsmen said the intervention programme has afforded members of the community the opportunity to receive medical services including cervical cancer screening, immunization and issuance of mama kits to pregnant women free of charge.

* The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, tasked INEC to ensure that people’s vote count. Archbishop Ibezim, commended Anambra State Government for providing the enabling environment for the peaceful conduct of the exercise. He observed that the election went on peacefully without violence and rancor and thanked the electorate for being orderly. 

* A coalition of human rights activists has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, over the arrest and detention of Mr. Nnamdi Emeh, a Corps member serving at the Anambra State Police Command and a perceived whistleblower. 

They said the arrestors suspected that he must be the source who gave Gistlover (an independent digital news and entertainment platform) some vital information with which it publicized the alleged atrocities of the officers.

*  The Vice President General, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure strict compliance to the Electoral Act 2022 as amended especially in the real time transmission of election results using the BVAS. The Ohaneze Ndigbo Chieftain, who commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise and timely arrival of INEC officials, regretted that the hitches witnessed in the February 25 polls led to the poor turn out of voters. 

* The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have pledged to sustain cordial working relationship in Anambra State. The two federal institutions reached the agreement when the Anambra State NDLEA Commander, Mr. Daniel Onyishi, paid a courtesy visit to the Sector Commander FRSC, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi.

* Younger brother to popular Rev. Father Emmanuel Obinma popularly called Ebube Muonso has lost his sit at the house of assembly seat where he represents Oyi State Constituency to APGA candidate Sir Innocent Ojike. Innocent Ojike of APGA who is a first time contender pulled 14,515 votes to be declared the winner of the election while Hon Charles Obinma of YPP pulled 6,718 votes.

This loss is coming at the back of the outburst of Fr Ebube Muonso against the Governor of the state and this is begging to ask if Anambra people registered their displeasure with the outburst by voting in protest against Ebube Muonso’s brother.

* The Bishop of the Aguleri Diocese, Most Rev. Denis Isizoh, has charged Christians to form the habit of blessing themselves by doing the sign of the cross regularly. Bishop Isizoh, who gave the advice St Theresa’s Parish, Umunya, explained that Christians have the opportunity of blessing themselves each time they observe the sign of the cross. He added that parents should also bless their children every now and then since such a habit has a lot of spiritual benefits for children and will create a brighter future for them.
