* Anambra state government has announced scholarship for fourteen-year-old , Anambra-born football freestyle talent, Chinonso Eche from Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Council Area who recently became a five-time Guinness World Records holder and his Colleague Victor Richard. Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo  stated this in Awka when he hosted Master Echee and his team at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

* Njikoka Transition Committee Chairman Mr. Clem Aguiyi has called on the lawmakers elected at the just concluded polls to ensure that they attract dividends of democracy to their Local Government Areas. Aguiyi urged the elected legislators to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s developmental strides in the state through quality legislation, even as he promised to work with the members-elect 

* Sector Commander FRSC, Anambra state Command Corps Commander Adeoye A Irelewuyi says “Operation show your drivers license” will commence from 4th April, 2023. 

The Sector Commander made this statement when he was paid a courtesy call by the newly appointed State Comptroller of Immigration Anambra State, CIS Edirin Endurance Okoto.

* The Federal and Lagos State Governments have been urged to take proactive measures to end incessant harassment, intimidation and suppression of Ndigbo living in Lagos State. In a statement issued in Awka, the Vice President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said Ndigbo have been pushed to the wall without any provocation and will take necessary measures to protect themselves from targeted attacks, harassment, abuses and threats. Chief Okeke-Ogene recalled that similar scenario that culminated to last civil war has started playing out again without the Federal government and government of Lagos State saying nor doing anything to prevent further escalation that will lead to total breakdown of law and order.

* The Scripture Union Anambra State has disclosed its plans to hold its annual Easter Pilgrims Conference/Mission Awareness in Awka, Anambra State. The unions Chairman, Prof. Victor Okonkwo, in a statement, said the conference themed, “Behold He cometh”, would commence on April 6 to 9, 2023, at the SU Emmanuel Camp, Agu-Awka with Bro. Nonso Ofodile as main speaker.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commiserate with traders at the Onitsha main market over the fire incident that razed down their shops. Soludo expressed sadness over the early morning fire that razed a two story building within the market which consumed some shops leading to loss of goods.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engineer Felix Odimegwu has called for all hands to be on deck in the conservation of natural resources, forestry and wildlife, for more friendly environment.

The Commissioner made the call during the first Forestry and Wildlife Symposium, award presentation and International Day of Forests celebration, organised by the fifth Forestry and Wildlife Students Association, in conjunction with International Forestry Students Association, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka

* Health workers at the Umuoba Anam Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra state have identified erratic power, water supply and space as major challenges facing the facility.

The officer in charge of the centre, Mrs. Patience Okoye disclosed this at the closing of 5-day free medical outreach sponsored by United Nations Children’s Funds (UNICEF) in  communities ravaged by the 2022 flooding in the State. The exercise, sponsored through Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), involved immunization of children and administration of COVID-19 vaccine to adults, especially women.

* After reviewing the performance of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in last Saturday’s House of Assembly elections, the Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the Party, Sir Nobert Obi, has praised the party for performing marvelously in the election. He recalled that with the gale of the Labour Party’s performance in the presidential election, it was difficult to believe that APGA will put up such a performance.
