* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR has inaugrated the Anambra State Housing Development Corporation Board. The Board, which is tasked with disrupting the system in a way that is consistent with the Governor’s transformation agenda and the yearnings of ndi Anambra for proper housing fit for the twenty-first century, is chaired by former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu. *  The Catholic Bishop of Awka diocese Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor has highlighted the significant role played by the Blessed Virgin Mary in the history of salvation. Ezeokafor while speaking at the 19th Convocation Ceremony of Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha, for their 2021/2022 Theology graduands, exhorted seminarians to be docile to formation and to start early to learn the basic quality of every good leader – serving.

* The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka Dr. Joe Akabuike has urged Igbo youths to always champion good conduct and utilize their entrepreneurial skills to attain full potential in life. Dr. Akabuike was speaking while receiving an award of “Beacon of hope to Igbo Students as vanguard of Medical Transformation in Anambra state”, from the Federation of Igbo Students (FISA) at the hospital’s premises Awka.

* Contrary to the speculations that the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, served as Rivers State Returning Officer during the March 18 Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, the authorities of the institution have debunked the reports being peddled on social media. According to the Acting Head, Information and Public Relations Office of the University, Mrs. Chika Ene, although news had it that our vice-chancellor was appointed as the Returning Officer for Rivers State in the last Gubernatorial/State Assembly elections, Professor Esimone did not serve in that capacity, as exigency of duty took him outside the country within the period.

* The need for Anambra people to live, work, impart knowledge and enjoy themselves where they reside are the major reasons why the Anambra State Government of Prof Chukwuma Soludo has embarked on the idea of a Mega City. The State Commissioner for Housing, Hon Pauli Onyeka, who disclosed this to Fides, said the idea became important as the Soludo Administration was virtually starting from ground zero, based on the situation it met.

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr. Ossy Onuko, has warned that the agency will arrest anybody flouting the barricade order at Eke Awka Market, Awka South Local Government Area, no matter how highly placed. Mr. Onuko gave the warning while speaking to newsmen in Awka, after it was gathered that most traders in the market have started disobeying the order. Expressing disappointed over the attitude of the traders, Mr. Onuko, said that government spent huge scarce resources in constructing the barricade to ensure smooth flow of both human and vehicular movements around the ever-busy road.

* Hundreds of illegal occupants of the Think Home Estate,  GRA, Awka, Anambra State capital are now counting their loses as most of them were  rendered homeless on  Friday,  March 31,2023 following the order of a court. The land dispute that has raged for 21 years was between former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University  Awka, Professor Ilochi Okafor, his Wife Egosonwa  Okafor, former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, late Val Elosiuba, who represented Idemili North 1 State constituency, the present Deputy speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Pascal Agbodike ,the Anambra State government and Chief Jude Osude and his company Bekilo Farms Ltd.

* Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has launched the Anambra Drainage Desilting Campaign and Operation at Ochanja market in Onitsha South Local Government Council. ANN reports that Soludo stated that traders must come out once a week between the hours of 8am to 10am to clean up before the markets before opening for trading. The Governor further restrained them from dumping solid waste in the gutters, which clogs the drainage systems. He reiterated that under his watch, Anambra will emerge as the cleanest state in Nigeria if all works towards it

* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Water Resources Management and Urban Water Supply Asset Holdings Corporation, Honourable Ikeobi Ejiofor, has warned people against encroaching on public water facilities land at Onitsha or face the full wrath of the law. Ejiofor gave the warning when he toured facilities at the Greater Onitsha Water Scheme, Nkisi Headworks and Water Board Government House, GRA Onitsha, in company of some staff of the corporation and members of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board.

* The Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Oko has confirmed the oappointment of two Principal Officers of the institution. Mr Udu Stephen O has been appointed bursar and Dr Nwabu Ezemba is the new Polytechnic Librarian. Our sources confirmed that both appointments went through the rigorous processes of the appointment of Principal Officers as contained in the Polytechnic Amendment Act, 2019. The newly appointed officers have many years of experience in the polytechnic sector.
