* The office of the Auditor General for Local governments has commenced a three-day workshop for auditors in Anambra State to acquaint them with auditing principles in line with the international best practices. In her remarks, the state Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe represented by the Director, Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Adebayo Ojeyinka charged the auditors to see the program as good opportunity to develop their skills by taking it seriously.

* Anambra Commissioner of Police Mr. Echeng Echeng has decorated Fourteen newly promoted officers in the State with their new ranks. ANN reports that the officers were decorated by Echeng at the Police Headquarters Amawbia, Awka South Council Area. Among those decorated were six Chief Superintendent of Police promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police, seven Superintendent of Police promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police and one Inspector promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police.

* The supplementary election for the Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State  witnessed drama, vote buying, manifest official lateness by electoral officials and other theaterics. Visits to the various polling units across the Ogbaru area revealed that some of the registered voters who exhausted their patience went home, while returned the second time, before the arrival of the electoral officials

* The Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, has restated the present administration’s resolve to sustain its partnership with the church for enhanced development. Speaking at Immanuel Parish Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area during the inauguration of Awgbu-Okpeze Archdeaconry also known as good News Archdeaconry and the induction and institution of Venerable Decency Chine as its pioneer Archdeacon, Mr. Ezeajughi, charged the church to be alive to its responsibilities especially in improving the moral tone of the society.

* The Idemili South Local Government Area  Chairman, Mrs Amaka Obi has revealed why she celebrated her birthday at a low key with the orphans at the Orphanage Homes at, Umuoji. The chairman said, it is her usual way of celebrating birthday, any achievement, or new attainment in life. “We are all enjoying privileges by the grace of God, we were not created better than those people abandoned and less privileged today. Instead of throwing a lavish party  inviting fellow politicians, the rich and mighty, it is better I share something no matter how small from the much that God blessed me with, celebrating with the orphans in this nearby orphanage. I don’t need it publicized, it is between me and my God,” Mrs Obi said.

* Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka has remanded one Joseph Egwuatu, a 35 year old man who allegedly raped a 2 year old baby in Anambra West Local Government Area. Joseph who hails from Nzam in Anambra West LGA was arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 on a two count charge bothering on rape. 

* Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, has set up a three-man disciplinary committee to fish out bad eggs among its staff. The Managing Director of the Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, made this known during the monthly head count and inspection of staff fitness in the agency. Addressing the staff, Comrade Anere cautioned them against intimidating or harassing citizens of the state.

* Ogbaru Federal Constituency candidate of the Labour Party, Hon. Afam Ogene has expressed gratitude to all party faithfuls for their resolve in drumming support for him. He pleaded for peace to rein in the interest of the Party and commended members for finding time to show solidarity and support as he didn’t expect the show of Love and commitment towards the Labour Party in Anambra State.

* The police in Anambra State, have reportedly failed to produce a 23-year-old man arrested for alleged murder in the state. The suspect, Kosisochukwu Asadu, was arrested by police operatives from Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area of the state on 11 November, 2022. RRS Awkuzu is a police unit created from the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) following the #EndSARS protest across Nigeria in October 2020. Mr Asadu was arrested alongside his 19-years-old sister, Daberechukwu Asadu in Igbo-Ukwu, a community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.
