* The South East Coordinator, Nigeria Civil Situation Room, Mrs Ugochi Ehiahuruike has commended the Anambra electorate for participating actively in the electoral process.

Mrs Ehiahuruike who spoke at Atani on her general observation of the exercise commended the large turnout of voters especially women and the passion they exhibited noting that they voted and waited patiently to protect their votes, giving kudos to security agencies for getting it right this time around.

* Anambra State Government has removed illegal structures at the Building Materials Market, Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area. ANN reports that a joint government task force including officials of the Physical Planning Board embarked on the exercise. According to the Chairman of Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, the Market, situated along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway is well planned adding that impunity of indiscriminate building of structures cannot be allowed to continue within the market.

* The United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF has embarked on comprehensive clean up of communities devastated by the 2022 Flooding in Anambra State. This is part of interventions to prevent outbreak and spread of diseases as well as promote the health of the people of the areas, especially women and children. The twenty-seven Communities in five local government council areas of Anambra state adversely affected by the 2022 Flood menace in separate reactions commended UNICEF and its partners ,Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) for funding the sanitation exercise in the flood affected areas

* The Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Youth  empowerment Programme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha during the weekend wedded his soul mate Chinaza. The wedding was attended by a galaxy of politicians, including the Executive Governor of Anambra State Professor Charles Soludo, as well as his wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, Anambra State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, House of Assembly members, Chief of Staff to Soludo, Sir Ernest Ezeajuigi, Commissioners, Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu, Transition Committee Chairmen, President ASATU Barr. Titus Akpudu, President Ohanaeze Ndi-igbo Anambra chapter Obi Emeka Udodeme, Chief Primus Odili amongst others. 

* Kingdom of Love, an interdenominational Christian assembly has held its 2023 annual convention to engage its members on fundamental Christian teachings and also appreciate God for His blessings. This year’s convention was hosted by the Rock Cathedral, Eden Life Bible Church Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area. The event which attracted member churches including Believers Assembly Gospel Centre Onitsha and Glorious Church of Restoration Okpanam, Delta State was presided over by the General Overseer, Eden Life Bible Church, Bishop Barn Chiwuba.

* The Candidate of Labour Party (LP) for Ogbaru Federal Constituency Election, Afam Victor Ogene, has been declared winner of the Ogbaru Federal Federal House of Representatives for Anambra State. Ogene defeated the incumbent House of Rep member of the constituency, Chukwuma Onyema of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is a third term member in the Green Chamber. Announcing the results at Atani the Headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Professor Kingsley Ubaorji of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, said Ogene of Labour Party polled 10,851 votes of the total votes cast, followed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Chukwuma Wilfred Onyema who polled 10,619 votes.

* Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra; Ocha Brigade Lee by Chief Celestine Anere has continue to decongest markets and remove traders doing business on drainages in different parts of Anambra State.

The agency were at the popular Ochanja Market to remove shanties constructed on drainages and move traders obstructing the free flow of movement within the streets of Ochanja due to their persistent on street traders. This has become a norm in most parts of our markets.

* Abubakar Balla Muhammed coach of Niger Tornadors has experienced satisfaction with the performance of his boys after securing a 2:2 draw against Enugu Rangers at the Match day 14 of the NPFL played at the Awka, Anambra State. Speaking to reporters in an interview after the match Coach Muhammed said they are targeting the super six. “We will not relent. We wasted many chances. We will go back and work on weaknesses.”

* The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, has commenced desilting of drainage channels along Ifite road, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka School gate, Ifite.

The exercise which has entered its second day was led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Mr. Ossy Onuko. Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Onuko said that the drainage desilting at the Ifite-school road became imperative because it has been blocked for years, affecting some portions of the road badly.
