* With the alleged installation of Chief Chibuike Okafor, as the traditional ruler of Awkuzu community, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State, two traditional rulers were said to have emerged in the community.
The State Government had earlier recognized and issued certificate of recognition to Igwe Prof Charles Anikweze. Crowning Okafor as the Ezeaganama 3rd and authentic monarch of the community, the community is sitting on a keg of gun powder.
*Â Wife of the Governor of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo said that her free agricultural export support scheme is still open to state female farmers on strict organic agricultural practice. Mrs. Soludo, who stated this in Awka, disclosed that even though the turnout has been marginally low, showing that organic farming is still being neglected in Anambra State, she is still looking out for women, who see the overall significance of the practice.
The governor’s wife, who noted that the offer which she made to female farmers in Anambra State is still valid, asked them to show more commitment to the vocation and understand that agriculture is a major financial means.
* A bill for a law to ensure the safety, health and welfare of factory workers and all persons present and for related purpose has scaled through second reading at the Anambra State House of Assembly. Deputy Speaker, Anambra Assembly, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike who is the chief sponsor of the bill in his submission lamented over the condition of some factories stating that our work environment needs to be improved upon.
* The President General of Ogbaru Main Market, Mr. Ndubisi Ochiogu, has commended Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo for launching clean, green sustainable environment initiative in the state. Mr. Ochiogu made the commendation during the desilting of blocked drainages and general sanitation exercise carried out in the market. He stated that the sanitation exercise was in compliance with the directives given by Governor Soludo to all markets, twenty-one council areas across the state and individuals.
* A Non governmental Organization, Street Aid Africa Foundation, SAAF has Partnered Urum Development Union in Awka North Local government area of Anambra state to distribute clothings and wears to over 80 persons in the community. The items distributed for free included cloths,shoes, hand bags, beads, bangles, children wears among others. The leader of the team in Anambra state, Miss Divine Alex noted the Organization focuses on the United Nations Sustainable Developmental Goal which is to provide education and empowerment for children .
* Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council through its Chairman, Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha has commended the outstanding roles of the State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, in restoring peace and harmony in most crisis-ridden communities of the state. Igwe Achebe who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the choice of Mr Nwabunwanne as Commissioner, expressed satisfaction with the cordial working relationship existing between the commissioner and the traditional rulers. The Obi of Onitsha who extolled the Commissioner for reconciling the warring factions in some communities in the state assured him of the total support of the traditional rulers in the onerous task.
* A trending clip online showed guests at a wedding in Okija, Ihiala, Anambra state, scampering for safety after a swarm of bees descended on them. According to reports, the couple getting married fixed their traditional wedding on a special market day in Okija, which they were warned against. The couple went ahead to hold the ceremony in defiance of the sacred day and the gods reportedly sent the bees to scatter the wedding. In the video trending on social media, attendees screamed in panic and ran in different directions as the bees attacked them in their numbers.
* Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered immediate preparations for the commencement of works on the Park B of Awka Township Stadium.
Governor Soludo, who was on an inspection visit to the facility, said the second section of the Awka Stadium may be used to celebrate his second-year anniversary. He ordered the immediate deployment of earth-moving machines to work on the layout of the stadium facility for subsequent division and allocation of spaces for relevant sporting events.
* It was a moment of joy, merriment and cultural display at Abacha community in Idemili North LGA, Anambra State during the induction of Chief Ifeanyi Okeke into the Ozo society with a charge for him to continue on the path of selflessness. According to Chief Uchenna Uba, the Cabinet Secretary of the community, the Ozo title is an expensive title, which elevates one’s status in the community and confers the responsibility of becoming part of decision making and opinion moulding in the community. Chief Uba noted that Chief Okeke had distinguished himself so well to be accepted into the Ozo society, with no doubt that he will keep living up to expectations.
